Project Description: Kindred was the first text that we read this year. We studied our texts, paying special attention to our five core values.

Our 4th marking period benchmark was to produce a trifold. Our board was put in our first science fair. My topic was plant growth. My hypothesis was that a plant qith 80% soil, and 20% fertiilizer would grow faster than a plant with either alone. 

After reading To Kill A Mockingbird, and discussing how small towns neglects changes, we were asked to write a speech on a change/new idea, that was being neglected. Using persuastion skills, by appealing to the mind, and heart of our listeners, we presented a new idea. Telling the town, what they were doing wrong, and why they shouldn't do it. We also had to console them, by saying that we understood why they neglected the new idea.

We were given three options, in which we had to connect a thesis to Kill A Mockingbird. I wrote a multiple paragraph on how a small twon reacts to change in our environment. This project lacked sufficient explanation, thus redid it twice.  

For our Algebra 4th marking period we did a project on system of equations. Using the knowledge of solving equations by graphing, substitution, and elimination, we had to figure out the components of rasin, and nuts in a trail mix. The product had to be no more than 18 grams, no less than 1800 calories, and no more than 117 grams. There were 4 tasks that we had to complete on a strict time period. The first task was figuring out the grams of raisins, and nuts. The second was the nutritional facts-fat, and calories, and the 3rd was the cost.

For our spanish 4th marking period, we were asked to do 4 tracks on garageband. We were divided into partners, and each had to be a counselor, and a caller. We formated a program similar to that of Dr Phil's, and we each took turn to be  a counselor, and a caller, on tracks 1, and 2.The prep for this project consisted of creating an introductiom,a show name, and the problems, and snaswers.

We created a video in this benchamrk, for new kids visiting SLA. We interviewed teachers, and went around different classrooms. As part of the process, we had to shoot the video, and then edit it, which took a very long time to get the perfect video.

Our first unit in spanish this year, was on our family. WE wrote pragraphs on each family member, and provided pictures of them. The steps that we took to complete this project included countless drafts revisions, and scanning pictures.

his unit, for many was the best unit ever. Reason being, the topic we discussed was La Comida!!
