Humanities Fair
Project Description: Kindred was the first text that we read this year. We studied our texts, paying special attention to our five core values. As part of wrapping up the Kindred unit, we reflected on it, by proving a thesis statement in a five-paragraph essay.
I chose to present this because… everyone forms his or her own point of view, and receives a book differently. My interpretation of Kindred may not have been the world’s interpretation, and I wanted my views on Kindred to be heard.
This piece demonstrates that I’m… my own individual person who makes her own judgments. My thoughts are not influenced by what society thinks, but only by my beliefs. So, although my classmates held various views of the characters in Kindred, mine may have differed, and I made those differences known.
What I learned from this assignment: This was my first time exposure with five-paragraph essay. I learned about thesis statements, and how to prove them, and the structure of a five- paragraph essay. I also learned how to support my points with cited evidence and outside sources.
