Spanish Essay

For the fouth quater benchmark, we had to write an essay comparing two songs; mone in spanish and one in english. I am especially proud of this project because aside an essay in french in middle school, this is the first essay I have written in a language outside my native. This was among my favorites because I got a very good grade on it. This is goign to remain a highlight because of all that.

canciones

For our fourth quarter benchmark we had to campare to songs one in english and one in spanish and explain what we noticed and the similarities and differences in spanish.

Spanish 2nd Benchmark

Our first unit in spanish this year, was on our family. WE wrote pragraphs on each family member, and provided pictures of them. The steps that we took to complete this project included countless drafts revisions, and scanning pictures.

Spanish 3rd Benchmark

his unit, for many was the best unit ever. Reason being, the topic we discussed was La Comida!!

Tour of Philadelphia en Español

This was a difficult project because we had to take a look at all of the places we go as we live in philadelphia. It was not hard to write directions in spanish and information about each of the places. It was also difficult to think of how people would react to the tour and think oh Philadelphia.

SLA en español for exchange students

This project was very fun. For it we had to create a video for a group of exchange students that were to come to our school. (hypothetically) We took them to all of the highlights of the school. It was fun to do humorous things. It was also nice to think about how we were making SLA look like to other people.

Family Tree en Español

For the first marking period we made a Family Tree and learned about all of the members of the family in spanish. We learned about each others families as we peer reviewed eachothers drafts. This lead into projects where we did the same exact thing but wiith friends and then ourselves. In the end there was a sort of contest that student were to judge which was best based on design and content.

Second Quater Benchmark Spanish

For the second marking period benchmark we had a choice to create a post card a book or a song in spanish. The book had to be a children's book. If you did the song the song had to good enough for kids. If some one chose a pat card they would have to write a post card to someone. All of the choices had to be in spanish though. I did a postcard.

Spanish 3rd MP

Our third benchmark was a brochure of some of our favorite places. The brochure was for a pretend group of spnish people who could not speak in english. The brochure of course was in spanish and was for the pretend people so they can tour the city of Philly.

Spanish 2nd MP

Then we put the measures for the amount of the ingredent. Then after that we had to write the prepration of the foood and how to make it. We had to memorize the lines of either our recipe or our partners. This was a partner project at the end when we had to print out pictures of have real food then make a cooking show infront of the class.

We were in Puerto Rico and we were writing everything we did and everything we were doing.. all in spanish.  Then we had to print out the postcard and present it to the class.

Spanish Video Benchmark MP2

For our second quarter benchmark we had to make a video on Lab safety at school. I was in a group that is in spanish 2. Our project was a little different from spanish 1. We decided to actually teach someone what to and not to do in the lab. We shot our video in a lab station and taught someone the do's and don'ts of the lab. We tried to also make our video funny becasue if u can't understand spanish that well but you see some throw a plastic tube at someone else you probally know that what they are saying has to do with that. Plus we didn't want our video to be boring.

1st Marking Period Benchmark

this project we learned the names for the family members in our family and how to say it in a sentance. Then we had to get pictures of each of the family members and then make a powerpoint and explain who the people in each slide. Then we had a gallery and everyone could see what we did and know a little but about our family.

We had to create a kid's book or a postcard. I made a book about mi perro. It was a few pages long and had illustrations. It was obviously a children’s book, but it was good. This was a good use of Spanish but it was also fun!

The Book!

Nick's Spanish Benchmark

Our 2nd quarter benchmark was a senerio if we had Sapainsh speaking people that wanted to learn about our school or even come. If we had a forgein exchange program we would send this video to that person (if they speak spanish.) We had to interview a teacher or two or talk about them and explain what we had at the school and the possiblities that lie here.

First Quarter Spanish Benchmark

For our first benchmark we had to create three pages.  One page was on me, the second was on family, and the last on was on friends.  These three pages had to be in all spanish, and we had to put pictures and then write a caption for each picture.

Third Quarter Spanish Benchmar

For Ms. Yarborough's third quarter benchmark we had to write a recipe for a food item in spanish.  Each individual in the class wrote a recipe, and then the final presentation was in pairs.  My recipe was Mac and Cheese, or in spanish, Fideos y Queso.

Second Quarter Spanish Benchmark

Our second quarter benchmark for Ms. Yarborough's class was to create a postcard or video.  I  did a postcard.  For the postcard we had to write a letter as if we were in Puerto Rico to someone in spanish.  After our postcard was complete we had to present it to the  class.  I wrote:

Dear Bob,

Saludos de Puerto Rico!  Como Estas?  Como es mi familia?  Acabo de ir a El Yunque. Espanol es muy dificil aprender. Me gustaria bailar el tango. Puerto Rico es muy bonita.  Acabo de ir la balnario.  Voy a Cobo Rojo.  Acabo de ir Vieques.  Hasta luego!

3rdquarterbenchmark

Our 3rd quarter benchmark we had to take a recipe from home and turn it into Spanish, the recipe had to be in Spanish. After we worked on that we had to get a partner and present on of the two recipes to the class. My partner and I chose my recipe to present. I made and brought in the food. The recipe I did was Oreo cookie cake, which in Spanish is pastel galleta Oreo. LINK

2ndquarterbenckmark

The 2nd quarter benchmark we had to make a post card or something sending it to a friend and/or family member saying how you felt about the place you were at and what it looks like and what were the things you seen. This also was in Spanish. My benchmark was a post card telling my friends how beautiful Porto Rico was and I also invited my friend to join me.

1stquarterbenchmark

For our 1st benchmark in Spanish we had to create a page all about our family and us. The trick was that it all had to be in Spanish. Once it was completed we had an open display so that we could see what our classmates were capable of. It took time and was a very useful thing when wanting to know about someone. LINK

3th Quater Benchmark

We had to learn how to make a food...IN SPANISH. I made galletas de choclate blanca, for all you gringos that is white chocolate chip cookies. We had to write out the directions and ingredients in Spanish. This benchmark was delicious.

La Comida

This week, we are wrapping up our unit on La Comida! After learning the names of foods and how to talk about preparing them, students wrote their own recipes that they will present on Wednesday in the form of a cooking show. I can't wait to try all of the dishes that I've been reading about in their work. Stay tuned for the class recetario -recipe book- which will be posted at the end of the week. ¡Buen provecho!
