First Quarter History benchmark
Submitted by mmiller on Sun, 06/03/2007 - 3:30pm.Our first history benchmark was to write a Five paragraph essay on why were the Europeans able to enslave African Americans in the 16th Century. In this unit, we looked deeper into the geological perspective of the societies. We watched a movie called “Guns, Germs and Steel,” by Jared Diamond. We came to the conclusion that, because the Europeans lived in the Fertile Crescent, the Europeans had created a food surplus. This food surplus and the means to control it caused the Europeans to develop advanced technology and ultimately enslaving the African Americans.
