Today i've read "The Things They Carried". I thought it was very interesting at the chapter love. Like before it, Jimmy Cross blamed himself for his friend Lavendar's death, so later, he started this fire and threw a picture of Martha's volleyball picture into it. Then years later in the chapter called "Love" it was somewhat of a sweet yet not so sweet ending. Like Jimmy's friend who went to Vietnam with him, came to visit him and they started talking about the days back when they were in Vietnam. Then later they reveil that Jimmy had the same picture he threw in the fire but he met Martha at a reunion after he got back from Vietnam and he says that he's still in love with her.

What do sports teams mean to the identity of the city?
I think that they represent the hope of the city and try to encourage those to try their hardest. I also think that they're the ones who try to make our city a better place because they try to represent our city as one that keeps on trying.

I think that this team has put Philly on the map, well the sports world. Now everyone knows about us even more han our historic value. It also gives us a sort of respect and to know that Philly is more than the violence. That we can raise up against the violence and cheer on a team to victory. It also shows the world that we have something more to offer, it shows that we are a real city of brotherly love.

What do sports teams mean to the identity of a city?
To a city a sports team is a way to get yourselves out there. It gives the people of the city hope, happiness, entertainment, and pride. Hope that our teams will suceed at what they do for the world to see. Happiness that our team defeated all of the other teams in the country. Entertainment to get our blood pumping and to bring the people of the city together to watch our teams succeed. And pride that our city made something of ourselves, that our city is recognized for doing something good, and that everyone around the country knows who we are because of this. A sports team is our unity, our pride, our love, and our identity.
