Sports is something to have a skill at but also have a passion for . people do something because they have a reason for it either they like it or they are deovted for things or either someone they love that is what i think sports mean and for the city i 'm not really sure about . for city to have a team is something of value to have for a city. if we did not have one we would'nt be considered of for the world seris of for anything . a team is something that you can cherish it depends on the players and they're heart

Synopsis of IT

Today I statred to read a horror called IT. This novel is by Stephen King. In English I started IT, however I did not get very far, but I did start. What heppened was the setting and the plot was being established. It is October of 1957 and it had ben raining in the town of Derry for a week or so straght and the most of the power is out. George Denborough is introduced as the main character playing with a paper boat that his older brother had made for him and when the chapter ended he was chasing after it.

What I am Learning and Working on in Class.

My english class in very interesting. We learn different things everyday, literally. To me it seems like Mr. Chase and Ms.Weinraub can be a little bit difficult sometimes when I don't get anything that they're expecting me to get. Thanks to them I'm catching on to things faster now that I've been reading more and doing more studying on my work. For instance, we're reading Hamlet. For the first week in a half, I didn't get anything Shakespeare was saying, especially when I had to read at home. When we're in class I grasp almost everything in a second because they'll explain it and act it out. By them doing that I have a better understanding about the book even when I am at home.  Even though I'm getting the hang of it I'm still learning and working on things I get and don't get.

Red Rox English Class

In my 9th grade English class we have read several pieces of writing like The Odysseys by Homer and Hamlet by William Shakespeare. After reading The Odysseys my class in I wrote a paper stating what the book was based on, which I said was based on Love. Besides reading and writing papers we also have great class talks about life and it values. When also wrote fairy tales that was based on other fairy tales like Little Red Riding Hood & The Three little Bears.  Being in Mr. Chase class helped to open my eyes to different ways to thinking.

Wacky Wa-Wa Crazy Chase and There Shining Stars

I engage and benefit in this class several ways. I engage  and benefit physicaly, internally, and exteranlly. I participate in complex and mature conversations based off of opinoins, predictions and facts from the book. I collaborate with my classmates on thoughts and summaries of the books. In the mix of reality based conversations there is a tension of a loving  andtruthfulness

in the entire room. The teachers reflect on our work and give feed back on what we did, we then edit and present our projects connecting with the class.

A student at SLA

I am a student at Science Leadership Academy (SLA), and in my English class I have been reading Hamlet. If you don't know what is about, Hamlet is a play by Shakespeare. It is a play full of intriguing crimes, love, cheating and lying. It is a very interesting book. The way we interpret the play has been a fun experience for my classmates and me. We have been doing skits of insults in Shakespeare language (this was before we started reading the book), we have also been taking quizzes on the passage that we had for homework that day. The quizzes consist on many different quotes from the Act and scene that was for homework. We have to translate that quote into modern language and explain the importance of each quote and how it is going to influence the play in the next act/scene. Also we have been watching important parts of the movie, to see how different directors choose to place the characters in their movies and to watch the way the actor reflected what Hamlet, the queen, Polonius etc. were feeling in the book.

Me

I came to sla expecting an easy ride but Ive had to do alot of hardwork this year  . We have had to do several benchmarks for each class plus the normal work we get  .  The work has been fun , challangeing and suprisingly diffrent then what you would expect from  a school  .  I have also suprisngly done well this year  .  I realy like sla because of this unique leaning experience and I realy like the people here  .

ILP Learning Goals

i dont know what i want to do exactly but i want to learn how to cook or act better. I want to build my abilities to cook or act. i dont know what career i want to follow expect in cooking or acting. so i would wanna go to the art institute for cooking or the merium theater for acting.

Q3 Biochem Benchmark

A. For this project, we placed an egg inside ethanoic acid and also placed the egg in two other liquids.

B. To complete this lab, we had to collect the data and choose two of our own liquids. My partner and I also placed the egg in motor oil and Coke.

C. If I could do this project again, I wouldn't use motor oil because it made a mess.

Q1 Biochem Benchmark

A.  For this project, I had to do a lab about yeast respiration.

B. Two complete this project, I had to fill 3 flasks with liquids and investigate how the yeast reacted to it.

C. If I could do this project again, I would choose a different liquids to put inside the flasks.

Q2 Biochem Benchmark

A. For this project, I had to research different cells underneath a microscope.

B. To complete this project, I had to create a power point presentation with pictures of the cells.

C. If I could do this project again, I would investigate the cells with a better understanding.

My Q2 Benchmark

For this project, I had to prepare a digital portfolio of microscopy images and we compared them w/salt water and without salt water. We also had a student choice which meant that we could make own microscopy images. For example, I did a hair sample. I compared my hair to 2 of my peers's hair samples.
What I did to complete this assignment was to work on the project as much as I can because it was a project for school but also home. But, most of the equipment was located at school.
If I were to do this project over, I would give more explanation to what I did as far as explaining it in front of the vistors at SLA.

Q1 benchmark Yeast Lab

A. For this project I had to do a lab about yeast respiration. My partner Perry Woods, and I had to find different foods or liquid to mix with the yeast, to see how it would react. We then had to wirte a research about it.

B. I did this expirement by filling up a 3 flasks with yeast, with one liquid each. Then we put a ballon on top of each flask, and we left them to see if the balloon will rise. We took pictures of out flasks, and took notes everytime we went to check on the flasks and the yeast.

C. If I would have an opportunity to do this project again, I would work with my partner better so we could've had a better idea on how to present our information. I would have also change my food and liquids so then something interesting would have actually happend to the yeast and the balloon.

Q2 Bio-chem Benchmark

This is my Q2 benchmark. For this project I did a lab on onion cells, cheek cells, hair cells, and grid paper. I completed this by observing these cells in a microscope under different magnifications. If I could do this project over I would research osmosis and the functions of cells more in depth.

Q2 Biochem Benchmark- My Microscopy Portfolio

What is the assignment?
How I completed the assignment?
What I would do different if I did this project again?

This is my Q2 biochem benchmark. It is a cell portfoilo. In class we looked in microscopes at different cells. Then we made a porfolio for them.

I completed this assignment by collaborating with my classmates and taking pictures of the different cells.

What I would do different is I would use lettuce cells instead of onion cells. I would really like to use a bug or something to see what they look like under the microscope

Cell portfolio

This is my Q2 benchmark. For this project I had to take pictures of onion cells and cells of other organisms. Then use the pictures and put them in a powerpoint. If I could do this diferently I would out organize my pictures from the time I took them instead of waiting until I had to make the powerpoint.

Q2 Benchmark Microscopy

For the Q2 Benchmark we looked into the study of Microscopy.

Bio-Chem Q3 Benchmark

Grade-  Written Lab C Average

            Visual Lab- A Average

Reflection- I believe that this benchmark was unique because of the variables tested within it.

Collaboration- In this particular project we got the chance to choose a partner to work with. With that in mind we shared ideas and thoughts and came up with variables we should test.

Presentation- In the end we presented and  received a grade for a written lab and visual lab.

Dberry Q2 benchmark

We had to make a children book out of a book that was already made. we had to use our own words and change the theme.

Q3 Algebra Benchmark Graph 1 & 2

This is my first graph for my quarter 3 algebra benchmark. This graph explains the Annual Mean Wage for Athletic Compettitors in Pennsylvania. I have my equation, slope and y intercept on the graph. I also have my second graph which is the Annual Mean Wage for Music and Singers in Pennsylvania. It has the same tings as the first

Q1 Benchmark Yeast Lab

For Q1 Benchmark we tested changing the food for yeast to see if C2O would increase.

Dberry English Q3 Benchmark

This benchmark was for us to write a paper about our memory. Using sensory details and no dead words. dead word are words like really, so and very

Spanish Q3 Benchmark

For this Benchmark we had to make a brochure and a powerpoint about the city of Philadelphia and where we like to go.

Berry's Q3 benchmark

This is my Q3 benchmark on the Egg Lab

Egg Cell Lab

This is my Q3 benchmark for Bio-Chem. This project was about egg cell permeability and why we think it is happening.

Q3 Bio-chem Benchmark

This assignment is a Egg Lab write-up, which was a 9th grade project for the 3rd quarter in our school year. For this assignment our classroom was assigned partners to work on an egg-lab. After we collected our data we we individually assigned to create lab write-ups which are a collection of discussions based on our research. If I had a chance to do this project over again I would change the way our chemical formula chart.

Q3 Benchmark

This assignment is to write a vignette that stands out the most to you. I completed this assignment by first making a outline. Then after I made the outilne I put it into paragraph form. If I had to complete this project again I would write about a different memory.

Q3 benchmark

This is my Quarter 3 ninth grade bio chemistry benchmark. It is about how to find the permeability of a typical chicken egg.

I completed this project with a partener and we both chose 3 liquids and over the course of about a week we went through all three liquids.

If I were to do this project over I would choose other liquids to see how each would affect the egg differently. and choose more than one egg so that I could do them all at once and see the difference over a longer period of time.

ALg benchmark For this project

For This project I comapred the salarys of Managers and Executives

Q3 Biochemistry Benchmark

In this assignment we were to write up a lab paper with our studies on an egg. The egg was to be placed in three different liquids and we had to study the way the egg reacted to the different chemicals. I was originally partnered with Chris McDaniel, until he had to leave so I was alone and doing a project by myself. It was not a big deal, I enjoyed working by myself. If I could do this project again, I would choose different liquids and perform different procedures on the egg after each liquid.

Q1 Benchmark-Zachary-Biochemistry

my benchmark on Density

my partner in this lab was Patrica Parker

Q2 Benchmark -Zachary -Biochemistry

This is my Q2 Benchmark in Biochemistry

Q3 benchmark Biochemistry

This bechmark was on a egg lab, we did in school.

Q3 Bio-chem Benchmark Egg Lab

a. This assignment is the process of decomposing the outer shell of a typical chicken egg in order to observe the cell membrane. Through out this lab, I was able to experiment with different variables that caused different effects on the egg.

b. I completed this lab with the help of my partner Roberto Albano. We were given the proper materials from our school lab and followed the directions of our teacher. The lab process consisted of letting an egg sit in a variable liquid for several days. While the egg sat, we took observations in order to complete the assignment.

c. If I were to do this assignment again, I would observe the egg more often then I did during the lab. That way, It would be easier to see the change in the egg through out the lab.

Q2 Benchmark

This assignment is a collection of all of the photo's that I took using the microscope. I completed this project over a period of time. First, I collected all of my images, them I organized them in powerpoint. If I were to complete this project again I would organize my photos in a different manner.

Algebra Benchmark

The Quarter 3 benchmark for algeba 1.  I did a graph on if you have more albums your richer.

Q3 Bio-Chem Benchmark- Egg Cell Lab

This was my Bio-chem bechmark for egg cells. It was so compare all the different liquids and see what would happen to the egg.

I completed this project with a partner named Lena Bruce.

If i would do somehting different in this project I would have used different liquids.

Ryan's Q3 History Benchmark

This assignment is a history reflection of what my 9th grade class learned in African American history for the 3rd quarter of our semester. I completed this assignment by reflecting on our class project project, which was a mock-trial and newspaper based on colonial/ state laws that had to do with slavery or segregation. I decided to use the Jena 6 case, the Dred Scott Desicion, Scotts-Boro boys, and Barack Obama for examples of my research. If I had a chance to do this project over again I would add more research the racial slurs against Barack Obama more in depth.

Q3 Bio Benchmark

This is my biochem Benchmark. This is a project about our Egg Cell Lab. I completed this project with my partner Justin Genelli. We placed an egg in a 250 mL beaker with ethanoic acid. Then we placed it in orange juice and vegetable oil. That we basically what we had to do. As we went along we toook notes and measured te size of the egg. If I did this project again I would choose differerent liquids.
