This was my capstone project and I am very proud on the results of the blood drive.

I believe that a school should be a place where children can feel free to express themselves andbe who they are. I also think that they should be able to discover themselvesand find what it is that they love to do. Whether that is by doing an art project or by having the opportunity to work with children in a classroom as ateacher aid. Because a child is spending most of there day in school then anywhere else it should be a place of guidance where they can have the help they need to find things that they are interested in. I think that the teachers are a major part in this process because they interact with the students the most out of anybody else in the school. By incorporating these things into ahigh school you are allowing the child to develop more as a person and more importantly preparing them for the next stages of their lives.

            If a child is able to say on any given day that their teacher / class inspired themsomehow in their lives then the purpose of the school is being fulfilled. Forto long school was just about teaching kids what they needed to know in order to get a high school diploma and if they chose to go to college then that wouldbe great but if not than that would be okay too. But I think that school needsto be that other support system for the student to know that they can do anything they put there mind to and have the resources to study anything they want.That’s why I believe that teachers who just teach because they love a subject shouldn’t be able to teach high school students. By just teaching because youlove the subject you forget that the other main focus of teaching is the lovefor kids and seeing them get something and know you helped them get to thatpoint. By having teachers who teach because they love that moment when a kid gets something gives a student the motivation to keep going and makes them morecomfortable to ask questions if they have them. That teacher could inspire themto do something more with their lives and inspire more people to do the same.It’s like a chain reaction of dominoes once one touches another they keep goingand going until they reach the end of their journey. Just like school should be; it could have an amazing effect on the whole world and could even changethe world for the better.

            Unlike many other high schools in America I want a school to exist that is nothing like the others. A school where a student wants to go to and learn everyday, aschool where they are free to be themselves, and feel like they are learning not just about history or math but also about who they are as a person and whothey want to be when they grow up. It’s rare that a student can say that they are where they are today because of their teachers in high school. But maybe that’s really what kids are lacking, role models in school that can show themthat they can be different. And that is what I think will really change what we know today as the “traditional” school.

I picked up trash around the city.

My last project for art was inspired by my love for ballet. I really wanted to do something that combined some of the things I love. I traced my final picture and used charcoal to color it in. Ms. Hull really helped me bring the picture to life.I didn't imagine the product to come out like this. It definitely looks better then I even imagined.

This quarter my project started off as a gift for my friend for her birthday. It was a picture of the cartoon character Betty Boop. What started off as a gift then turned into much more. After completing the painting I decided I wanted to do more with it instead of leaving it on a white paper. One of my friends then suggested that I cut it out and paste it onto another paper. But when she was saying it I got an idea, I then decided to put it on a thicker paper so that when it was hanging up it would give the appearance that it was coming out of the wall. This project was a lot loser then I usually do. I tend to stick to more things that have a hidden meaning behind them but really enjoyed doing this project it was fun. (Image coming soon)

There are many things that are encorported to make a good interview. For example you to much music can be distracting. Or music with lyrics because you start to tone out the interview and just start to listen to the music. Also speaking clearly helps because if you cant hear what the interviewer is saying then you stop paying attention. 

So the things to try to do would be speaking clearly, the music you use, and speaking cheerfully to keep listeners interested.

Today your inner person is defined by how you talk. If you don’t talk like your from the ‘hood then you must think you’re better then everybody else that’s from there. It’s the same thing if your black and you talk like an educated person then your known as the schoolgirl.

Last summer while I was sitting on my steps on the phone two boys off my block came over and started talking to me.

 “ Yo wassup? ” says the boy

 “ Hi” I reply

 “ wutcha doin over here”

“ talkin on the phone” I say

I do agree your language does have of way of becoming part of your identity but it does not make up who you are. Through out time the world has been trying to tell us how to live and how to talk. But is there really a certain way we should talk or is that just one mans opinion.

Your language also comes from your history. Depending on what part of the world you come from you may have different ways of saying things or spelling things. Your language can also be a way of expressing yourself. Just by the way you say I love you…or how are you.

Whether we know it or not we all do this. We all have a different way of talking. Not one of us talks the same. Just like none of us are the same. We all think differently and have different ways of expressing how we feel. For instance some of us have more of a slang talk when we speech and some of us have more of an educated way of talking that sounds more proper.

The first thing a person notices about you is the way you talk. This is one thing you will be judged by for almost the rest of your life. Its like language is now one of the most important things. One season on Americas next top model, Tyra told a girl we cant have a model that does not know how to talk proper. This is just one of the ways you are defined as a person. 

Yes, your identity includes the way you talk because it gives a person a little information on where you’re from. But it should not be the only thing people judge you on.
