Stem cell research

Stem cells are cells that are able to divide without a limit. When they divide that can either take the shape of another Stem cell allowing it to continue the division, or it can turn into another cell to help repair damage done to the body. These cells are able to continue this process as long as the animal or human are alive. The stem cells can turn into many cells including, muscle cells, red blood cells, or even into brain cells.

The research is making new discoveries everyday. The research is able to provide treatments for various diseases. This treatment is called Regenerative or reparative medicine. One of the ways they are able to extract the cell is through a 3-5 day old phetus. The reason they extract it from such a young phetus is because this is when the cell begins to take it shape. It being extracted is like getting a joker in a card game, they can be considered or used or turned in to any of the other cards, in this case the cells.

There are 2 types of Stem cells, Adult and embryonic. The difference between the to is that the Embryonic is the one I have given information above about. The adult stem cells can only be used for places they originated from or the tissue. Which means if it is extracted form the liver it can only be used on another liver.
Is there funding?

“In order to ensure that federal funds are used to support only stem cell research that is scientifically sound, legal, and ethical, NIH examines stem cell lines and maintains a Stem Cell Registry of lines that satisfy the criteria.”
