If you could have only one of your bills pass, which one would you
choose. Describe the reasons that you chose that particular bill over
the other bills.
- If there was a particular bill it would be the Health Care bill that openly supports public option. I would want this bill to get passed as soom as psosible becuase of two reasons. One with people struggling to get supportive health care now it would be good that this bill was passed so people have the option to choose the perfect health coverage for them, their family and to find on the supports a secific condition that they have. The second reason is with this bill passed it will grantee my generation and others after me to be able to get sold coverage without having to worry when they are going to cut us off because of a 'pre-condition'. That will help because the generations of people currently are suffering from a boat load of different health issues big and small, increasing the changes of children aged 18 right now from getting reliable insurance once they are off of their parents. Common health problems amoung the people of today vary from overweight problems, increase in ashmatic people, smokers, drinkers and even teenagers that need specific preciptions for the not so common achne; which got worse from the high amounts of sugar inthe MAJORITY of foods we eat. This bill will not only help thoses now and in the future but it was also help economically in our country. How can I not want this act to pass?

My Vision of School
Submitted by sashby on Tue, 10/13/2009 - 15:57.
Creating an environment that gives students a place to live, learn and create. The vision for Shannel Antoinette Academy is to develop a students education exposing students to a learning experiences that involves hands on logical and creative thinking, also presenting the students to real-life situations that would require them to make decisions thinking of the long term results. Including ways that will make learning easier and enjoyable for students.
Individual each student will interpret a lesson or real-life experience different. During their time in this institution the
student will gain logical skills of thinking long term, how their decisions effect others around them and which ever choice they make is it for pleasure or for their own good. One way to prepare students for what life after school is like it put them into the situation. You access how they incorporate what they learned in mathematics to be able to tell which cable deal may be worth paying for and is the cheapest.
Their learning will include different scenarios that are most common throughout America. After their months learning the
project would be for them to handle each situation the best they can. One student might have just hit the lottery, have to choice between accepting the money all at once or overtime. Then how will they invest that money, and so that each student can't take the easy way out there will be a list of choices that they are given. Another student might be a single parent with two kids who is on a tight budget. The children might be smart enough to get scholarships to a great school: that’s for high school (private) or a college. Its a life learning lesson that they experience just like any American might be going
through at that moment. The lesson is also an expansion from the well-known baby lesson you go through in health class. This life lesson is their 'fake crying baby' and the student will have to take care of it and make the right decisions needed to survive and keep the 'fake baby' happy.
The school values its way of twisting the learning system. In this school will still have students attend classes of the
norm such as algebra, English, and history But with our Life-Learning we will have that algebra class not consist of Xs but of income dollars, English will be more 'dramatic' in ways, why read and write when you can act and analyze? Being able to understand what has caused the future to be what it is would have students learning the past. When students look at why Obama, Mike Myers, and the Democrat Party is pressing the current Health Care Issue. Where the health care system has taken a turn for the worse and if it isn't changed how will it affect our futures? This institution values the students’ core interpretation of what they are learning, how they will take that with them along the way, and if they still have a basis of the 'traditional' education of what is needed to survive in and after college.
Compared to "traditional" school the structure of Shannel Antoinette Academy will be a life related as possible. Our main Life-Learning Program will prepare students at early ages how demanding and stressful their lives can get after school. Its will prepare students mentally for their future's which is their decision to make. This school will prepare them in the living aspect for college and years in to adulthood. Hopefully it will go beyond that and the lessons would just teach them to
appreciate the learning that they have access to. Help the students to strive for the betterment of them, encourage them to find their passionate calling that makes them happy and keeps them motivated through all their hardships. In 'traditional' schools they emphasize on how society looks at their scores and numbers. In this academy we teach them how they as an individual can be more then what society wants them to be, when they believe they are more than a test score, more then a number society has no CHOCIE but to accept them and work to fit them not the other way around. Proving that society is always changing and there's always time for them to shine and strive to make it happen.

Breaking That Smoking Habit 8
Submitted by sashby on Thu, 04/03/2008 - 03:58.
In Breaking That Smoking Habit 7 , I mentioned that there were many different ways to quit smoking. Well two of them that I wanted to talk about was step by step guides and therapy treatments.
First you must be wondering how these “step by step” guides for quitting smoking works? Well there are plenty of different quitting sites that all have their won different type of guidelines. One site I looked up ways called Quit4Good: The Free Quit Smoking Website. On their website they have stated that “Provide visitors with a Free Guide with tons of valuable tips and procedures that just cannot be beat.” The Free Quit Smoking Guide consist of chapters such as Benefits of Exercise, What to Expect ,Ways to Quit, Completely Quitting, After Quitting, Find New Habits, Gaining Weight, After You Quit Smoking and so on.
After clicking the link that leads to their Free Quit Smoking Guide and after reading this part “Decide positively that you want to quit. There are no if's, and's, or butt's, that's it! Your quitting! Try to avoid negative thoughts about how difficult it might be, and concentrate on the benefits of success.” It looks like the very first steps is to get you mentally prepared and dedicated to quitting. The question I had for this though was that how can a smoker want to positively quite when nicotine is cigarettes tell the brain otherwise? Nicotine gives smokers pleasure, I think that no matter what you are trying to quit or change its going to e hard to give up something that is so “good”.
Well if a smoker may not be mentally capable of quitting smoking then try to physically stop it. What I mean by that is quit smoking using a laser treatment. At Laser Care this treatment doesn’t only help you stop smoking but also includes a weight loss treatment and stress relief. “The stop smoking laser therapy treatment is the easiest way I know.” That is what many of their clients told them.
This treatment will take care of the addiction through the physical aspects. The way this work is they take an pulsating light that is absorbed by the skin which stimulates endorphins. Its also is absorbed by the cells at acupressure points. It is known that LaserCare get rid of the urge to smoke, helps stress relief and increase your fat- burning metabolism.

Breaking That Smoking Habit 7

My topic headline states “ Breaking That Smoking Habit”. Well there are ways to quit that habit. This goes beyond just staying you are and then put out that cigarette you was smoking and walk away.
Its very refreshing to be able to say that there are actually MANY different ways to quit this addiction of yours. Some ways are using medications, gums, therapy treatments and step by step guides. If an smoker is considering the option of using medication to stop smoking then here is an example of one: its called Chantix. Chantix: Stop-smoking medication to help you quit “Chantix works by blocking the effect that nicotine has on the brain.”. Basically the purpose of this medication is that when its blocking the effects nicotine has on the brain, if you happen to slip up and smoke a cigarette it wouldn’t seem as enjoyable as before. Since nicotine effect on the brain is that its pleasurable.
Surprisingly another medication called Nicorette works in a different way. This medicine gives the smokers the nicotine that the brains craves. The upside is that its not like the cigarette that has 3,999 other chemicals destroying your lungs and inhalation. Anyway it is instructed that the user 9 pieces of the gum per day during there first 6 weeks. Then after that you slowly reduce the number of gum pieces you chew per day until you don’t need the nicotine at all. If using this gum has a helping aid I would suggest that a flaw to this would be that if the smoker slips up and smokes a cigarette the amount of nicotine they get from that would be more satisfying then the gum, so they just might go back to smoking.
For more information on Nicorette Gum visit their site.

A lot of what I talked about in the previous blogs were talked along the lines of how smoking can have a great effect on your financial state, health and household. Knowing that indeed there was a lot of informative information about those topics in previous blogs, right now something that needs to also be talked about is the things other companies are doing to help those follow smokers. Also this is the time to get more in-depth with what is so special about the cigarette.
There is this specific drug that I want to focus on, this drug is used in cigarettes and what makes then special. This drug would be NICOTINE. Nicotine is what makes the cigarettes addictive in the first place. Nicotine is found in the tobacco plants leaves, these plants contain a high amount of nicotine in them. The average tobacco plant has about 4% of nicotine weight. That’s a lot of nicotine but that is only before manufactures create their cigarettes and other products. Anyway one cigarettes might end up contain 7 to maybe 20 milligrams if nicotine.
Even though nicotine is the key component in cigarettes that grantee that a smoker will come back for more, nicotine isn't only being used to keep smokers smoking but it can also be used to help them stop. Well there is a gum called Nicorrette which actually contains a certain amount of nicotine in it already. According to the Nicorette "how to use" website this sugar free gum filled with nicotine will help fight off a smokers craving for nicotine. Another way of thinking about it is that the smoker is addicted to the nicotine in the cigarette not the cigarette its self. When their nicotine craving is put under control the smoker can gradually use less gum pieces then before which could help decrease the amount of nicotine that they might want.
Since there is medicine to help smokers quit smoking then there are also other ways of quitting too. There are guide steps online that should give positive results for the smokers. Also there is even a processors that can be taken also.
For more information on the many ways of quitting smoking you should vist:
If you want to use the gum visit: Nicorett -Stop smoking gum
Others are Laser Care - Soft laser therapy which should help with smoking addictions.

The more we time spend on this project the more I become knowledgeable of what is going on around me. I had made my choice to study cigarettes because of my personal reasons and based on my knowledge I would barely scratch the surface of what terror is behind smoking cigarettes. The many reasons why you shouldn't smoke, are imprinted in my head from now on. I have gotten positive response from two of my change agents! So far this project has been in the black for me, hoping it will stay that way from now till the end.

When smoking cigarettes can have an great effect on the smoker but what about the people that end up inhaling that deadly carcinogens in the smoke of a cigarettes? I will tell you what happens to that person, they get affected by the smoke too. These people are known as second hand smokers the meaning of this means that this person is a smoker but not by directly inhaling the toxins from the cigarettes.
When you think about it that second hand smoker can just not be around other smokers which will result in them being healthy. Well that’s easier said then done, especially when the smoker might be someone who lives in your home or a family member.
According to Secondhand Smoke Fact Sheet, secondhand smoke exposure causes disease and premature death in children and adults who don’t smoke. Secondhand smoke contains hundreds of chemicals that are known to be carcinogens, which is including formaldehyde, benzene, vinyl chloride, arsenic ammonia and hydrogen cyanide.
The Secondhand Smoke Fact Sheet also stated that, secondhand smoking has caused 3,400 lung cancer deaths and 46,00 heart disease deaths among adult non smokers. Secondhand smoking is as deadly has smoking the cigarette it self, recently 15 states have banded smoking in public places and work places. Before they use to have a smoke free zone in restaurants which seemed helpful at the time, now I guess no matter how far you were away from smokers in that restaurant you still end with 3,400 lung cancer deaths and 46,000 heart diseases deaths among those people seating in the non-smoking areas.

So far into my research I have learned a lot of things. For example the fact that in 50 years smoking one pack of cigarettes the cost $5 you would have spent 2 – 3 million dollars! A lot of my research have been going pretty good I am worried about where all this is taking me. I want my blogs to sync together, one leading to another and so far I am have trouble thinking of what else I should bring up about my topic. Even though I am having this problem I have came to some type of conclusion about this. I plan on finishing up my emails to my change agents by the end of the week.

Information about the amount of money spent on cigarettes was shown on Welcome to TAKE-A-MOMENT! Premier Issue , that if two packs of cigarettes are smoked per day. One pack of cigarettes: $2.40 the monthly cost=$144.00 and yearly cost=$1,752.00. That is just an estimate of what a smoker is paying per month and year on smoking. Imagine how much that is when some smokes more then two packs a day and knowing how addictive the nicotine is and also the increase on the prices of cigarettes the amount of money spent will increase by 10 times full.
That may seem like a little exaggeration but the amount of money some spends on cigarettes would make you spend the same amount of money, but saving it. If you assume that today one pack of cigarettes cost $5.00 and the smoker only smoked one pack the amount of money spent on cigarettes will shock you. The monthly cost for that person on cigarettes would be $150.00, the annual cost would be $1800.00. In 20 years it would be 113,905, in 30 years 339,073 and in 50 years you would have spent 2,598,658. The carcinogens in the cigarettes will effect you greatly, I think that anyone in that situation have to realize that they have invested thousand of dollars into their death!

Smoking cigarettes is the main cause 87% of lung cancer cases. Even though that’s the main cause of many people’s early death, cigarettes don’t only cause lung cancer. According to Smoking and Cancer - Statistics for the U.S. ''smoking causes cancers of the oral cavity, pharynx, larynx, esophagus, lung and bladder.'' When cigarettes cause this much damage to the human body you think people wouldn't even try it, but unfortunately the majority of smokers were ignorant to what they were putting in their bodies. When the ingerdients and products such as this are not removed from store selves a large number of people will die pre-mature deaths.
According to Fact About Lung Cancer , there are seveal ways to detect the pressence of lung cancer. Symptons of Lung cancer included “chronic cough, hoarseness, coughing up blood, weight loss & loss of appetite, shortness of breath, fever without a known reason, wheezing, repeated bouts of bronchitis or pneumonia, chest pain.” These symptoms are common among a larger amount of smokers. When you have any of theses see a doctor immediately, your doctor will conduct many tests. Being able to find out what is wrong with your health and know before it can get any worse is a change that wouldn’t always come around.
I would recommend you to vist: Facts About Lung Cancer to learn more about how you can detectsigns of lung cancer and the stadard preocedure that doctor's take in these type of situations.

I have been asked to post just two blogs so far and I am starting relieaze that during this benchmark there are no room for mistakes. So far I think that I did pretty good, well on one post. I am still working on my second post, but becuase of my lack of time mangement is keeping me from being able to complete it at the moment. Anyway once I am able to get my second post up I know that I will do good on it.
Well off the topic of my second post, I am having doubts about this project. There is a limit to how much a school student can do about such things as change the way cigarettes have an affect in our lives. I can barely convince my mother (a smoker) to stop smoking. How can I be able to convince other people or a smokers or not? I am having my doubts but I am keeping up with good research and I am going to try to perserver through my troubles with my positive attitude.

When you watch a movie there is always a time when a character or two pulls out a cigarette looking like they just finish a day of hard work. The media always try to tell you what is cool and what to do, well smoking shouldn't be one of those things that media approves of. According to, Cigarette Smoking cigarettes were a problem in 1982. The 1982 Surgeon General's Report stated, "Cigarette smoking is the major single cause of cancer mortality in the United States." When problems are still an issue is shows that nothing have been improved or done to change this. Smoking cigarettes don't only harm your health but also can cause you a financial problems and cause problems in your own household.
Cigarettes contain 4,000 different chemicals, 60 of those chemicals are carcinogens. Which means that those 60 chemicals cause cancer. But the cigarette doesn’t only cause cancer but many other deadly diseases. Each year 440,00 people die from tobacco use, cigarettes are known to have killed off more Americans then illegal drugs, alcohol, suicide, car accidents, AIDS, and homicide all combined.
According to, Sample Issue an average person smokes at least 2 packs of cigarettes a day. If 1 pack of cigarettes cost $2.40, then a month worth of cigarettes will cost $144.00. A years worth of smoking will cost $1,752.00 and that is if 2 packs are smoked a day. That’s a lot of money spent on a drug that can cause premature death. Having spent this much money on just 2 cigarettes a day is outrageous!
When that much money is being spent per month on smoking. Doing that much smoking will not only cause the smoker harm but the people around them. This is called Secondhand Smoking, for example if a smoker has an 8-year-old child living with them and the smoker smokes in the house. That child will get effect, when they are breathing in those 60 carcinogens then you mine as well hand them a cigarette and have them join you.
Being addicted to cigarette will have long-term effects on you and the people around you. Cigarettes will affect your health, cause you financial problems and those problems will take a toll on your family and friends too. Whether they are smokers or non-smokers, cigarettes have no type of feelings and don’t care who they harm. The only one making the choices is you, since this choice is wrong I will work by hardest to help stir people into the right direction.
