Reflective Post: "Pro-Life or Pro-Choice?"
Submitted by treid on Sun, 02/21/2010 - 22:43.
Pro-Life or Pro-Choice?
My blog collection consists of many different points of views and perspectives.
This particular blog post speaks of two extreme aspects of Abortion.
Recall:
Pro-Life-
- Pro-life is an organization whose main focus is to prevent abortions from happening.
- Educating people of the dangers of abortion and the importance of human life.
Pro-Choice-
- Pro-Choice is an organization whose main focus is to advocate "choice" and what it means to be in control of the decisions you make pertaining to abortion.
Reflection:
Problems I encountered-
- The idea for the topic of this blog post came easy because the two organizations mentioned are extremely popular when referencing abortions. I do however become quite unsure of what to blog about next.
- I am sometimes unsure of how to construct my blogs to prevent them from looking the same as my previous ones.
Steps I need to take-
- Deeper research; What other information is out there?
- Going below the surface; What else should people know besides the obvious?
- Creative thinking; How else should I construct my blogs?
Abortion: Planned Parenthood
Submitted by treid on Fri, 02/05/2010 - 03:56.
What IS Planned Parenthood?
Planned Parenthood is a health care provider, educaton and advocate.
What does Planned Parenthood DO?
Planned Parenthood provideshealth car, sex education and worldwide
information.
Planned Parenthood practices in-clinic abortion procedures. These
procedures are said to be "safe and effective" to women terminating
pregnancies.
Are any abortions really "safe and effective?"
Physicians For Life states, "Since the Supreme Court's 1793 Roe and Doe
decisions, at least hundreds of women have died from what pro-abortion group
insist on calling "safe and legal" abortions." According to Moments In Time,
abortions kill atleast 70,000 women a year.
What does an illegal abortion look like?

Pro-Life..
Christia Net is a worldwide Christian Marketplace.
This website gives insite of those who beieves a
baby is fully human from the time of conception and
does not support unborn babies.
"Statistics have proven hat after being induced to
destroy the fetus, most women
suffer feelings of grief
at a higher intensity level and for a
prolonged period of
time; sometimes 20, 30, or 50 years later" says Christia Net.
Pro-Choice...

The National Abortion Federation (NAF) speaks
positively about abortion.
The NAF believes abortion is a "Valid and Positive
Reproductive Choice.
This website believes abortion is not the problem
Abortion is "the solution to the problem of
unplanned pregnancy"

"Jill Nolan"
This article tells a story of Jill Nolan, a 19 year old
female faced with the tragic decision on whether to
abort her baby or not. Her soon to be ex-husband wanted
nothing to do with her, or a commitment.
Jill later got an abortion and with that, followed
depression. Jill didnt enjoy sex for a
long time after that. After being empregnated
by the love of her life she found later in life, she
realized her decision to have her baby was pro-choice.
Nobody's opinion with the acception of Christ, matters.
After Abortion, Depression Occurs..

Depression:
Depression.com tells us "depression is not just something you can
'snap out of'. Its caused by an embalance in brain chemicals along
with other factors." Depression should be treated just as any other
medical condition.
What are the different types of depression?
National Institute of Mental Health tells us depression is very complex. A few forms of depression
are listed below:
- Major Depressive Disorder
- Dysthemic Disorder
- Psychotic Depression
- Postpartum Depression
- Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD)

Depression and Abortion; is there a link?
- AfterAbortion.org informs us that women with history of abortion are
at a higher risk of clinical depression.
- Fox News says "Abortion opponents
have long argued that women often suffer depression and other mental health
problems as a result of having abortions." (Boyles)
- Ramah International tells us of the Post Abortion Stress Syndrom. This syndrom is another form of post-traumatic stress disorder. Experiencing grief, making life changing decisions, suffering pain and regret can take a tole on one's mental health.

Is Abortion MURDER?
Abortions are unethical. Its murder. Women plead to have rights to their own body,
and they should; but when you murder something thats living its no longer just "your business."
If a woman wanted to kill her child, should the government just leave it alone?
Is it none of their business? Becasue you conceived an embryo does not mean you have
every right to end its life.
Abortion is wrong. Pro-choice condones unlawful homicide.Pro-life condones the right to live.
Which side are YOU on?
According to the Guttmacher Institute,
- Nearly half of all pregnancies among American women are unintended.
- From 1973-2005 more than fourty-five abortions occurred.
- Teengagers obtain 17% of all abortions in the U.S..
CONTRACEPTION: Methods of Birth Control
1. Sexual Abstinence: the practice of refraining from engaging insexual intercourse.
2. Condoms: According to the American Pregnancy Association, a condom is a latex material rolled over the erect penis of a male prior to contact with the vagina
3. Hormonal Methods: A health care provider can provide you with birth control pills that are taken daily to prevent pregnancies
4. Withdrawal: Removing the erect penis from the vagina before ejaculation occurs.

-The lives of the dead pages 225-246
This chapter is about reminesence. The author goes back and remember all of his friends and experiences. The author is reminiscing. The spirits of friends from the army are still very much alive to him. In reality, there are all dead. But in when he tells his stories, they come alive and are smiling. He was in love with Linda when he was nine. And it was real. He is sometimes tempted to label it as a crush, or deep infatuation, but looking back a few decades later, he knows what they felt for each other was a deep and rich as love could ever get. He remembered back in Vietnam when people had died, they had a way of making them seem not so dead. They kept them alive with stories. When Ted Lavender had died, they kept him alive by talking about how they'd never seen him so relaxed, tranquil and mellow. How it was the bullets but the tranquilizers that blew his mind. Though they tried to keep him alive through stories, didn't it hurt worse knowing he wasn't mellow he was dead? Wasn't there another way of keeping him alive as oppose to commenting on his current state?

Its interesting how the events happening such as Rat Kiley getting hurt and rumors about the Russian tanks and troops seem so real yet the entire story isn't the exact truth. I wonder, If by teling these stories he's indirectly telling us what really happened suing similar experience, how similar are the events? And how can there be other ways of saying, Rat Kiley Got hurt and Russian troops and machinery build up? "This whole war" he said, "You wanna kow what it is? Just one big banquet. Meat, man. You and me. Everybody. Meat for the bugs." -I wish he would had expanded and went a littler further into elaboration on that sentence before he's shot himself the next morning.

Field Trip pages 181-188
The author Tim had completed his work "In the field" and returned to Vietnam with his daughter to visit the site Kiowa's death. But, how was the experience "In the field" for him? Was it challenging? Tim, the author also looked for signs of forgiveness or personal grace and whatever else the land might offer. if visiting these various places such as monuments, government offices, a model farm outside Saigon and other tourist attractions was for his 10 year old daughter's birthday, why take her to things that wouldn't interest her? Was it for his own personal gain? He really wanted to take his daughter to places he's seen when he was a soldier. On page 184, TIm is standing on the field where he and his soldiers resided long ago. He remembers everything. He can still hear Kiowas laugh. Was he going too far by jumping into the river? His daughter was quite upset and a little confused. I was a little confused at the end of the chapter when his daughter Kathleen looked out into the field and asked her father, "That old man, ..is he mad at you or something?" Her father answered, "No...Al that's finished now.? What and who were they talking about?

The book entitled "The Things They Carried" talks about the Vietnam war from the point of view of one soldier. The things the soldiers carried and how much they weighed are mentioned quite a lot in these select pages. For example, On page 7, the passage states "Every third or fourth man carried a Claymore antipersonnel mine-3.5 pounds with its firing device. They all carried fragmentation grenades-14 ounces each. They all carried at least one M-18 colored smoke grenade-24 ounces each." the emphasis placed upon the things being carried by these men are interesting to think about. Are the weights of these various items mentioned soley for imagery and dramatic affect? Is there a reason readers are informed of every single things being carried and why?
¿Qué hice yo durante el verano de 2009?

The objective for this project was to write a song about our summer in the past tense conjugating verbs in the preterite or imperfect tense. My strengths of my process for this project was taking advantage of the opportunity to recieve help and correct revisions from Señorita Gierke. My weaknesses may have been conjugating most verbs in the present tense as oppose to the preterite or imperfect tense. I am content with my final product. Because I went to Señorita Gierke for clarification, I am confident about what I am saying in my song. If I could do my project over differently, I would change the beat of my song. It was quite strenuous finding the correct melody to go with the words I was saying. I enjoyed this project and I hope everyone enjoys as well!

It was my original hope to have an ILP at the Childrens Hospital of Philadelphia. Unfortunately, I was not picked to be an intern there. My desired internship is at a law-firm, or a place of fashion. I have high hopes. Wishing I am placed at one of my desired locations, I wait patiently. About 3 weeks have passed and I've not yet been assigned. When I finally do start my internship, I PRAY it's not boring! I wish to look forward to Wednesdays every week. I do feel a little disappointed though. My friends have an ILP and I don't! I feel like a little REJECT. Though I don't have a place to intern, I do enjoy when Jeremy says, "You can go home..." every Wednesday after my classes are through.
