Is teenage depression here at Science Leadership Academy? This was the thought that crossed my mind as I read this
article .This article is about a community that has recently have had 3 suicide one after another. These are a first in thirty years.
You would think that this would cause the adults to stop and listen to the teen’s right? Wrong. The government of this island decides to bring in specialist on teenage depression and suicide. The teens on the island were very confused about the specialist. “These experts, they trickled in after the first death,” said Olivia Hull, 18, a writer and an editor at the school newspaper, Verities. “Then there were more after the others. It was all very confusing.” The specialists were not helping at all. In reality they were making everything worse.
This is a time when the adults of the island need to be talking to their kids . Instead of pushing it off on someone else. This seems to be a current problem with us humans. Instead of talking about our problems we tend to brush them on to someone else or sweep them under the rug. If this were to happen more their just might be less depressed teens.
