Algebra One Benchmark

This year, I am in Ms. Thompson's Algebra One class. For our first quarter benchmark, we were put in groups of three or four. My group included Blase, Tariq, and Dylan. For this benchmark, the goal was to create a blueprint of a room with 5 unique items of our own, which mine was the bedroom. We had to measure the items and scale down to create a blueprint that someone would actually be able to use. It took a few steps to get done the final product and post the information and such on druple.
BioChem Benchmark

For our BioChem class, Mr. Best had us in groups of two or three. My group consisted of me, Yadi Angeles, and Brittany Riggins. For this project, we were to choose a scientist and explain why he should get the SLAward. The SLAward would be given to the scientist who showed why theirs was the most important in our lives. The project consisted of creating a keynote presentation, along with a fact sheet and SLAward application.
English Benchmark

For Mr.Kay's class, we are reading The Odyssey. Our benchmark had to do with what we had been reading, but on our own opinions as well as what was said in the book. We had to come up with a thesis statement. For this thesis statement, we had to include 3 body paragraphs with quotes and how they support our thesis. Then, a fifth paragraph on our conclusion, which was simply on how our thesis was important.
History Benchmark

Mr. Baird is my history teacher this year. His benchmark for us was confusing at times, but it was a fun project. For this project, I was paired with Donna, Sekai, and Robert. Together, we were given the task of taking it back to Ancient Egypt times, to a place called Per Wadjet during the time King Tut was in charge. We had to create dinners for the weekend, expences, a parade/ celebration for King Tut, and an Advertisement for the Summer Solstice.
Spanish Benchmark

For first quarter, Mr. Bey gave us a benchmark that was different than what I was used to. This benchmark was on the words we had been learning, which was pretty fun. We were to make a survival brochure in only spanish. We could use pictures to illustrate it. The goal of it was to create a brochure and make it so that a visitor, not knowing any spanish, could understand it and be able to survive in a Spanish-speaking country, such as Spain.
Fibonacci Sequences Presented By Samantha Beattie

The Fibonacci sequence is an arithmetic sequence. It uses addition to find the next term number. The way a Fibonacci sequence works is that t1 will always be zero and t2 will always be one. It normally looks like: 0, 1, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 13, 21, 34, 55, 89, 144, 233, 377, 610, 987, 1597, 2584, 4181, 6765 . . .
My Election Reaction

My reaction to the election was a good one. I clapped and yelled woo when I found out that Obama had won. I believed that he was the best choice for president this year and that he will do good. When Obama made his speech, I held back the tears. It was very touching and his tone was very empowering.
