Biochemistry Benchmark Quarter 1

Our project had to be about the science since the 17th century. We worked with a parter that is in our stream. We had to do research about the specific scient that you and your partner chose. We had to make a presentation that was persuasive to Mr. Best and the rest of the class for them to vote for our scientist for the SLAward. The SLAward is like a recognition to all the things that a scientist did for our world.
My scientist was Charles Darwin. We were told to research Charles Darwin and say why he deserves and is worth of the SLAward.
If I had to do this project over again I would follow the planed schedule in order to have all parts fully completed and submitted on time

For our BioChem Benchmark we had to work in a group of two people. We had to research a scientist then make a slide show all about that scientist.
Me and my partner Anthony took and made a slide show about our scientist Albert Einstein. We used a keynote document and we used neutral colors, so that our slide show would be visible and clear.
What I would do differently is to summarize what I read better, and also to use better sources, so that our research would be easier in general.

Science Benchmark
In Biochemistry, my teacher, Mr. Best, read a story, to us and it had things about famous scientist, and their adventures, when he finished the section, he told us to create a auto-biography of a scientist from either the 17th, 18th, 19th, or 20th century. We also had to choose a partner to work with. I chose Vandavy Som as a partner.

Our benchmark was the “History Of Science”. My classmates and me were divided into pairs and each pair researched a scientist. We each had to make a fact sheet about the scientist. We were required to make a Power Point or Keynote presentation about the scientist. We also had to fill out an application.
For the benchmark, we were paired with a partner. My partner was Rashaun Williams who was in charge of doing the research and summarizing them. My part of the project was to organize a fact sheet and the Keynote presentation. Each of the groups was assigned a scientist to research about. My group had to research Hans Adolf Krebs.

For our Quarter 1 Benchmark in science we had to research a scientist. Not just plain research like age, name, death date, and invention. Our research was based on questions. One question was, "How did your scientist's work affect future scientists?" So it wasn't simple research it was a connection to modern scientists.
For my project I worked in a group. The group was made of Natikwa Goodwin and I. We had to research Galileo Galilei. He invented the telescope, but more so made improvements on it. For our project we made a fact sheet, with simple facts, a slide show of his accomplishments, and a skit for bonus points. People seemed to enjoy our presentation.

For my Biochemistry Benchmark, my class was split into groups of two with the one exception of my group, which had three. We were to choose a scientist to write about from a long list my teacher provided from us. We were to find out about our scientist and do a written application, a fact sheet, and a brief oral presentation that couldn’t be any longer than three minutes, and then fill in an application (made by our teacher) to apply our scientist for winning the SLAward (an award).

For my BioChem benchmark, I had to work with a partner and research a scientist. We had to put together a presentation and explain why our scientist should win the SLAward and what he did that changed the way we live to what it is today.
I worked with Gina and we chose to research Eratosthenes. She worked on the fact sheet explaining what he did while I came up with the presentation for the SLAward and how he changed the way we live today. I pointed out that since Eratosthenes found a surprisingly accurate circumference of the Earth, scientists today are able to figure more things about the Earth. For the presentation, I took a picture of Eratosthenes’ big head from www.google.com.

For our BioChem class, Mr. Best had us in groups of two or three. My group consisted of me, Yadi Angeles, and Brittany Riggins. For this project, we were to choose a scientist and explain why he should get the SLAward. The SLAward would be given to the scientist who showed why theirs was the most important in our lives. The project consisted of creating a keynote presentation, along with a fact sheet and SLAward application.
Science/Biochemistry Benchmark (First Quarter) by Dylan Lonergan

The first benchmark in Mr. Best’s Science/Biochemistry class was titled, “The History of Science.” Students were divided into pairs (with the exception of two groups, which had three students), and each pair researched a scientist, and was required to make a fact sheet about the scientist, a Keynote presentation about the scientist, an application to win the “SLAward” (the prize that goes to the “winner” of the project, which was unfortunately never decided, as nobody voted for the winner of the SLAward.), and an essay about the scientist, which is attached at the end of this post.
