ILP Prep

What is your ILP (describe the organization/project)?

My ILP was at University of Pennsylvania.  This course was to teach computer-engineering software, Java.  This was the first partnership with University of Pennsylvania.

What have you done?

I have tried to learn the coding language.  I have tried to create my own code.  I sat through a college lecture.  I’ve understood what it feels like to take a college course.  I’ve seen what it’s like for students to teach a class.

What have you learned?

  • I’ve learned how to write the basics for javascript.
  • I’ve learned how to write javascript for BetterBot.
  • I’ve learned how to improve an already existing class.

What were your expectations for your ILP?

  • My expectations were to learn how to build a computer.
  • Learned to read the errors in a computer
  • Learn to fix errors

How did these expectations meet with what you have accomplished?

These expectations didn’t meet with anything that I have accomplished.  Everything I expected didn’t work the way it worked.  What I was told about this ILP wasn’t what it was.

How does your ILP connect with your future career plans?

This ILP connected with my future career plans by helping me understand what javascript is and was a good introduction to what a tech person should know.

How does your ILP connect to learning at SLA?

This ILP connects to learning at SLA by the way the school uses a tech language to write the server.  The school’s server is written in code and by understanding javascript, I could help improve the code to make the school’s server better.

How does your ILP connect/affect your ILP plans next year?

My ILP connect/affect my ILP plans for next year by helping me understand programs.  I hope my ILP is the R.a.D. Lab at Drexel, during the couple weeks I was there I had to write an explanation on how to use certain programs.

What are you taking with you from your ILP experience?

I am taking the ability to understand javascript and trying to comprehend it.  Javascript is a hard language to understand without any help.  I know the basics but with more research I can understand everything inside a webpage.

What advice do you have for someone else completing a similar ILP so that they can have a positive experience?

  • Try not to sleep.
  • Pay as much attention as possible.
  • DO ALL THE WORK.
