ENG Q4 Blog 2 (Othello)

Woah. The time is going so fast that I barely know what day it is./ my group for this project is moving at a great pace. We are not behind in anything that I know of. All of us have done our part in reading the scenes and editing the dialogue. Now all that is left for us to do is record our podcast.

Okay. I will so take back what I said before about working in groups. Sometimes you have a major slacker and sometimes you have the ones who do what they have to do and they do it well. And I have to say my group is doing a great job at that. We all know what needs to achieve and we are so on the verge of doing that.

The last two days were when the editing of the text was being done. Each one of my group members had the task of cutting down the text that we were responsible for reading. We edited our own parts so that we could let each others interpretation work their way. Everyone has a different way of thinking and this way you could express what you think your way. You decide what stays and goes.

If you understand Iago’s plan the story pretty much tells itself. He is the guy who wants revenge, but in order for him to get that he needs everyone’s blindness. Knowing Iago inside and out opens up so many options for themes and ways of thinking. But in order to use those themes you must really understand and not just act like you do.

Currently my group is working on making the lines that we found in the book look like an actual script. Since we are all done reading our assigned section of the book we should be good then of course we have to edit and shorten the dialogue.

Working with a group is some kind of difficult. Its like if one person doesn’t do what they are supposed to do it throws the entire group off. Then you have the students who have a habit of no doing work and it sucks when you get stuck with them. But when you do work with you don’t have as much work to do and everything is not just on your shoulders.

My group is doing a podcast. At first we were just going to take the summarization of our lines and make our own dialogue in modern day language. But when we realized that couldn’t do that we will just have to remove lines from what we have typed up and choose what lines we will use from that.

If someone fully understands that concept of the plot of the story it because easy to dig deep and analyze. It would also become easy to apply a theme to the words you are reading and be able to pick apart what’s there in front of you. Plus understanding the personalities of the characters help to pick out what’s perfect for them to say and it’s easy to place them in the right area.

Ratios are something that we may be used to using  when we are in math class but really ratios are all around us. We use ratios when dealing with dollars to doughnuts. When it comes to statistics ratios are also involved. Not matter how it is putt we know that ratios are involved somehow.

Suicide statistics are no different. Males take their own lives at nearly four times the rate of females and they represent 78.8% of all U.S suicides. According to this men are 4 times more likely then women to die from suicide. Eventhough 3 times more women than men report attempting suicide. Plus suicide rates are high among young people and those over age 65.

Most of the time when you think about someone jumping off of a building or maybe hanging them selves. According to this list of methods to committing suicide I think that there are a lot more than we think. Not that suicide is ever the answer there are just so many ways and the items that are used are really not that difficult to get a hold of.

If you do the right research there are so many things that you will come across. For example I just came across the fact that there are common methods for committing suicides. For males the most common method is firearm and for females the most common method is poisoning. Try that on for size.

If you had to guess how many suicides that there are each year what would your answer be? Go ahead I’ll wait tick, tick, tick times up. If you guessed 5,000 you are wrong. Did anyone say 10,000 you are the weakest link goodbye. 20,000 going once, going twice too bad you are still wrong. Over 31,000 suicides are attempted and accomplished each year. I bet you didn’t think there was that many.

When we are young we fall down, cry a little and get back up. Thee older we get the more we cry. Sometimes others cause the tear and sometimes you are the reason for you own pain. More than 425,000 people with self-inflicted are treated in the emergency room every year. Whoa! The only question I ask is why.

When you look at someone can you honestly tell that they are not happy with their life? Can you tell that living is something that they no longer want to do? You cant but I think that you also have to learn to understand and accept why they feel that living is no longer important. The mind can play tricks on you. Your mind may cause you to see and hear things that are not really happening. Whether what it is happens to be good or bad it can have an effect on you. The decision is yours to try and ignore the situation at hand.

One the more real side of things people talk, point and stare. Everyone always has something that they seem to not care what people think. The Causes are all around us. Rejection is the one thing that tends to scare a lot of people. In high school, middle and maybe even elementary kids try and fit in but are often ignored and just pushed to the side. If we push them to the side how do you think they feel? How would you feel?

Everyday we hear a story that moves us. Whether if it has a good or bad effect on us it has an effect. Suicide is one of the subjects that people often ignore, but that is not the best idea. If we ignore one of the main causes of teen deaths today what will people who are contemplating suicide think? They will think that people don’t care what happens to them and they may indeed commit suicide. There are things that we can try and prevent suicide from happening. Sometimes instead of partying and doing things that don’t help us, how about we talk to a friend and see what is happening with them. They might appreciate life a little more. Here it list some of the possible steps that we can take to try and prevent someone from committing suicide.

“Do something that will help you feel better for a little while. For example: take a hot bath, go for a walk, watch TV, rent a funny movie, listen to music, cook a nice meal, sleep, pray, read a good book, surf the net.” Why can’t we just do this? Not only will it make you feel better about yourselves, you will also hopefully save a life.

What can we do to help a person who wants to take their own life. Your hear the stories on and you read the articles. Is their something that we can do to eliminate the problem that is suicide. When someone we know dies from a reason that they didn’t have any control over we get highly upset. Then when they commit suicide or get themselves into a bad situation we feel like it is their fault and we could careless. Here it states that “The suicidal person is teetering on the edge of a terrible choice.... which to choose, the pain of death or the pain of life... which is the worst... hmmmm.” If you had the choice to deal with the pain and keep living or stop the pain by dying, which would you choose? The choice is not that hard. Why feel and deal with the pain when you don’t really have to.

What is pain? Pain is emotional distress; a fundamental feeling that people try to avoid; the pain of loneliness. There many things that you can call it but one thing is the reason. The reason you may lock yourself in a room, the reason you cry at night and the reason life doesn’t seem worth living.

Suicidal Reflection 1

What do I dislike about my first post. A lot. I write because I have to, and not because it is actually fun to me. But sometimes when I started I just can stop. This was not one of those times. It’s like I had to strain the work out and I hate doing that. It kind of feels like waiting to the last minute to do something and you brain is really just disagreeing with you. Working with the links and inserting them the right way was hard for me and I know it shouldn’t have been. See here’s the thing I would figure out how to properly insert the hyper link and then I would forget ho w I did that and then have to figure it out all over again. I make things more difficult for myself most of the time anyway so what ever. Next time I will insert links that lead and different sites and maybe I’ll try and do everything ahead of time. I hope that helps.

Every once and a while we may think about committing suicide. Then we realize that maybe that is not the best choice. Maybe we will be missed and maybe others might not be able to deal with that. Then we have those people who don’t really think about what might happen once they are gone and they take their own lives. Finding out that someone killed them selves is nothing that you want to find out and it really hurts on the inside but you try and hide it. Often all of the signs are in your face but maybe you don’t really notice. According to the AACAP this persons eating habits change or maybe they stop hanging with their usual group of friends. When these things happen around you and you start to notice do you try and help this person. Do you tell an adult or do you sit there and let your friend start to disappear on you. We never really know what other people are feeling but AACAP puts it this way, “Teenagers experience strong feelings of stress, confusion, self-doubt, pressure to succeed, financial uncertainty, and other fears while growing up.”  Maybe this may help you talk to your friends a little more.
