Othello Q4 Benchmark Blog #2

My group and I are just about finished our script. Myself and I think another of my team members have found lines from all the acts and scenes we were assigned. We have them up on the Google Docs, and the rest of my group is just about finished with their acts and scenes as well.
There have been no additional difficulties so far relating to my group and their ability to work together. Our situation has been pretty much a complete success. No one wastes time or gets off task. We talk about what needs to be discussed, then we get done what needs to be done. Everyone is working effectively and efficiently, so there are no problems with my group, as far as I can see.
When adding lines to the Google Docs, my group searches for the quotes that can show off our theme without actually saying it, as well as give hints to the storyline and move it forward. We try to get the juicy quotes that let you easily know what's going on at whatever point of the story the quote is from. For editing, we try to pick out what is unnecessary in the quotes/lines we find and try to get to the point without too much extra information. My group picks tha lines apart and then puts them back together in a way that can be more understandable to the audience and not bore them or leave them stumped.
Now, after finding my lines and looking at those that my partners found, I do understand some of the secret jealousy and character edvelopment to a greater degree. I realized that Brabantio was jealous of Othello almost from the start, seeing as how his daughter was tempted by a "Moor" and not a noble man of Venice. He thinks just about anyone else would be a better choice for Desdemona, but that doesn't seem likely. Also, I've seen how Othello's jealousy was sparked little by little over the course of the story. Throughout Acts 1-3, he gets little nudges down the path to jealousy, but in Acts 4 and 5, he really starts to get "heated" and reveal the jealousy that was created in him by Iago's plan. He goes off on Desdemona about her being a whore with Cassio and giving away his blessed handkerchief, and even questions Emilia's motives. His judgement starts to become clouded near the ending and when the story does come to a close, he ends up dead.

My group is working well together so far. We have gotten most of the lines put up on our google doc or will soon. Communication in the group has been efficient as well for the most part. There's a lack of communication between one group member, but I believe that has/will be worked out. Though, there has been some problems with the google doc. Two group members for some reason can't gain access to editing the doc. One of these two group members can't even use google docs. So to constitute for that handicap, they are just going to moodle message their information to me and I'll be fowarding it to google docs. I'm pretty sure we finished all needed work so far. We've decided that the most effective way to exert our lines is by making a podcast rather than preforming. We don't seem to have any problems so far other than the difficulties with adding collaborators to the google doc.
So far I have noticed how evil Iago honestly is. Of course I saw before that he was evil, but it took a double look to realize how evil he was. I felt this impact when I reread the part where Iago tells Roderigo to stab Cassio. But then Iago ends up taking credit for finding the coward Roderigo and kills him. All the while making himself seem like some noble, honest man in front of Lodevico.

Global Warming Blog #10, The Future of the Issue
Submitted by Narayan El on Sun, 04/06/2008 - 07:29.
People have mixed views about the future of Earth relating to global warming. Some think the future will be bad and have severe consequences, but some believe the future holds good results. For example, these are some expectations from the Green Facts web article, Scientific Facts on Climate Change :
“Over the course of the 21st century, many impacts are expected to occur in natural systems. For instance, changes in precipitation and the melting of ice and snow are expected to increase flood risks in some areas while causing droughts in others. If there is significant warming the capacity of ecosystems to adapt will be exceeded, with negative consequences such as an increased risk of extinction of species.”
That was a negative view on the future of the issue. It touches on the side effects that have been and will result from global warming over the years. However, people have more positive views as well. Take a look at this excerpt from Hilary Clinton’s Hilary for President article, Powering America’s Future: New Energy, New Jobs about what she plans to do to help lower our greenhouse gas emissions:
“Hillary has a bold and comprehensive plan to address America's energy and environmental challenges that will establish a green, efficient economy and create as many as five million new jobs.
Centered on a cap and trade system for carbon emissions, stronger energy and auto efficiency standards and a significant increase in green research funding, Hillary's plan will reduce America's reliance on foreign oil and address the looming climate crisis.”
As shown by the two examples, different people have different views about what awaits us in the future as far as global warming is concerned. In actuality, the future mainly depends on what everyone does. We SHOULD do our best to lean more toward opinions such as Hilary’s. This way, we can solve our planet’s problem and not have to deal with any consequences that may follow if global warming were to get out of hand. Only the people of the world can truly make a difference, so we might as well make some kind of attempt to keep our world in the best condition possible while we still can.

Global Warming Blog #9, Who Else Can Help?
Submitted by Narayan El on Thu, 04/03/2008 - 05:17.
We are not alone in our fight against global warming. There are several people and groups who want to see this planet’s problem fixed as much as us. They can provide others with helpful information, tips on how to deal with global warming, and possibly funding to help in people’s attempts to lower the effectiveness of global warming.
One of these global warming agents is the National Resources Defense Council (NRDC). They have an entire article on their website about global warming called Issues: Global Warming. It tells you many things about global warming, such as what contributes to it, its effects, how to prevent it from getting worse and make it better, etc. For example, in the article’s Solutions section, it says that the design and construction of “green buildings” (energy efficient buildings) can waste a lot less energy than normal establishments and contribute less to global warming emissions. The article directly states that these special buildings can “dramatically reduce the enormous amounts of energy that buildings consume in heating, cooling, lighting and water use.” In other words, if you use “green buildings,” they could conserve a lot more energy than normal buildings.
Another agent that relates to global warming is Energy Star. This is a company that gives information on energy efficiency and sells energy efficient products. At their website , they have products in over 50 categories that qualify for their trademark, the Energy Star. Here’s an interesting quote from the Energy Star website that could point you in the right direction towards energy efficiency:
“Did You Know?
The typical household spends $1,900 a year on energy bills. With ENERGY STAR, you can save up to 30% or more than $600 per year.”
As far as funding goes for helping out with global warming, our government may be a source. But organizations like the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and the National Science Foundation ARE sources. As shown by the stated examples, there are several people who can help us to prevent the dangers of global warming, we just need to be willing to ask.

Persons of the world have you ever wondered what the presidential candidates you vote for take is on animal cruelty or bills or acts passing laws for these special household companions. Well since I have been blessed with this information from Presidential Candidates/ Animal Bills about sum of these candidates I will share sum of there takes on animal bills.
“Hillary Clinton: (NY Senator) Scored 80-100% from 2001-2006. However, Clinton did not support ban on Canadian seafood to boycott seal hunts. Clinton invested in cattle futures by making Tyson the nation's biggest butcher of cows, pigs and chickens. She has also voted for vivisection money. Clinton owns a chocolate lab named Seamus. When her husband was President they had a cat named Sox and a dog-named Buddy. Buddy terrorized Sox and when they left the White House Sox was given away. Buddy subsequently died. And we can't forget that in 1997 President Bill Clinton reversed a 1992 law that banned the importation into the US of tuna that wasn't dolphin-safe.”
“Fred Thompson: (Actor and Former TN Senator) voted against animals in his last year of public office. He has taken many dollars from vivisecting pharmaceutical companies.”
Hopefully this hyperlink above and the information I have provided you with will help you animal lovers out there make the decision a little easier when picking you presidential candidate. Now you can chose your candidate and will be able to speculate if they also have you pets best interest.

Well I have finally got the ball rolling and no wishes on slowing down the project is coming along. Time management is an issue that is now out the window. The only thing that has been phasing my project now is some of the technical difficulties one of which was a huge problem my computer hardrive crashed. This unexpected phenomenon completely halted my project because I was without my laptop for a week. This made it complicated to add to my project because my files and even some important bookmarks were already saved on my laptop and I had no way to access these essential components of my project.

So far I have had some problems, which include quality or date of information and time management. Mr. Chase giving me sites with more efficient and updated information has solved most of these problems. I think the most effective site you have given me about my topic came from PETA (People for The Ethical Treatment of Animals). Another problem that slowed the process and quality of work was time management, which I take total responsibility for and I am getting on top of that.
