I really enjoy my ILP it is something I can put my heart into. I think the organization was founded for an excellent cause. It is a non-profit organization that helps make the arts available to groups that are disabled or economically disadvantaged. They are the only organization in the region solely devoted to increasing cultural participation among all underserved audiences

I volunteer at Art Reach every Wednesday from 2:00PM until 4:00PM. While there, I help with filing and overall organization of paperwork in the office. I also do some copying, and mailing of letters. In addition, I’ve made many packets for incoming volunteers’ orientations. They may seem like boring and menial tasks, but I don’t mind. I just try to help out in any way I can. I’m up for anything I can do to make their jobs run more smoothly.

My ILP is called the R.A.D lab at Drexel University. R.A.D. lab stands for Research and Demonstration lab. So far we have been
learning how to use different programs that we will combine at the end
of the course. The programs we learn about include, Final Cut Pro,
Adobe Dream Weaver, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photo shop, Adobe Flash
Player, iClone and some other interesting/expensive applications. The
overall goal of the course is to make a website showing our use of all
the applications, to make the website we will use the program Dream
Weaver. The teachers are very cool and will be helping us all of the
way with our projects. The websites will be hosted by Drexel. Our
websites will include a podcast, movie, picture, animation, and more
that we individually created with the usage of each of the applications
we are learning about.

My ILP is the Sterling Glen Atria Center City elderly living home. Here
I have the opportunity to interact with the residence and help the people
that make the building run the way it does. It is hands on, and an
active job. The community is made up of hardworking,caring, and
dedicated people.

There
is never a day when I don't have a job to do. The residence keep me
busy by telling me stories, having me help them, cleaning up, doing
paper work, organizing, decorating and going on errands. Thus, I help
to
make the residence feel like they are at home. It's great interacting
with the residence, because they teach me a lot about growing older. I
always see other volunteers there working along with me. Being at my
ILP is always a new experience, I'm glad to be there.

ILP Blog/Introduction:

I just started my ILP after orientation and well for my first impression of them I didn’t exactly get that they would be considered one of the top of the line architectural companies or representatives… It was a silly mistake which happens to everyone where they I guess got a bit confused with division because they didn’t know what 16/8 is, they thought it was 4 but I helped them out with that giving them the correct answer; 2. Besides that I see what they mean with how much work it takes and how much multi-tasking a person must handle to get a good amount of money from their job. I am not sure I understood them correctly but from what I did understand a architect gets anywhere from 5%-12% the total cost of the building that he designed and help built, I calculated a decent building worth about 1 million dollars and 5% of that building. That would be 50,000$ for minimum wage for doing that job which in my case is how much people make like per year and If I continue to get those jobs and finish 1 of them every 4 months I would make 150,000$ a year considering the 5% commission from it, 10% would be double; 300,000$ for one year which in my opinion I pretty darn good. I look forward to showing my skill to them hoping to give them high hopes of me and just getting on their good side. I also hope that they give me a good experience of how a architect works from all points of views to get me ready for my potential future.
