The Science Leadership Academy is a partnership high school between the School District of Philadelphia and The Franklin Institute. SLA is an inquiry-driven, project-based high school focused on 21st century learning that opened its doors on September 7, 2006.

SLA provides a rigorous, college-preparatory curriculum with a focus on science, technology, mathematics and entrepreneurship. Students at SLA learn in a project-based environment where the core values of inquiry, research, collaboration, presentation and reflection are emphasized in all classes.

Girls Volleyball Tryouts

There will be Girls' Volleyball tryouts on Tuesday, August 19th at 2:30 p.m. at Ben Franklin High School. Incoming 9th graders are encouraged to try out for the team. If you have any questions, please e-mail Mrs. Hirschfield at khirschfield [at] scienceleadership.org.

Penn InnoWorks 2008 -- Opportunity for Incoming 9th Graders!

Last summer, the University of Pennsylvania Chapter of InnoWorks hosted a group of 42 students from local schools including the Science Leadership Academy, FACTS, Penn Alexander, and Mariana Bracetti. The program was a wonderful success, and this summer, we hope to continue the tradition of spreading a passion for science and learning.
