Pieces of the Puzzle

This story is about two estranged siblings, Liz and Rob, that don’t speak to each other for years. When Liz has a baby on the way, she decides to reach out to Rob, which eventually leads to their reunion. The main idea of this story is that if you love someone, you will always hold a piece of their heart. This story is inspired by “Far From the Tree” because they both answer the question of what it means to be a family.

I loved the descriptive details in the beginning. Liz anxiously waiting for the pregnancy test results made me feel like I was in the story. I also thought how you set up the story was really well done. How you quickly changed between Liz and Rob's perspectives helped the story move quickly. The way you kept the number of characters to a minimum really helped the story in ways I wished I used it in my writing. The story is easy to understand as a reader, within the word count and brings the reader in with the number of characters. Finally, the theme that family always comes back to each other is a great way to answer the essential question of what it mean to be family
