Sasha Charles Capstone

Since I was a freshman here, I’ve hoped to see the music room become a quality space where myself and others could play and record music. After the unfortunate circumstances of my first two years at the school, I realized that the way to make this hope come true is to take it into my own hands. For my capstone, I wanted to explore the different ways in which I could improve Science Leadership Academy’s music room, specifically the studio. I wanted to create a space that SLA students could use more freely and create music they’re really proud of. Music education is incredibly important, especially in public schools, and I wanted to highlight that with my capstone project. To do this, I gathered and installed equipment that would make the room better, acquired donations from the SLA community, and sought to find ways to ensure that the space is used appropriately.
