The Adventures of Lionus

The Adventures of Lionus Video by Maya Wright
I made a 5-minute video with Leggo characters displaying some of the central themes of administration in Antigone. I chose to use the matter of poor leadership resulting from cold, unsympathetic and impassive choices to display why Creon’s governance failed. The main character “Leosopheclus” assumes the role of Creon. In the video I magnified Creon’s insensitive choices by making Leosopheclus an overly stern, powerful man that would not let anyone get in the way of his plans. He was not open-minded and opinions were not welcome to him and it was because of this that he in the end lost everything. Leosopheclus was sort of a dictator that kept pushing everyone away until he had but one left.

Each character with a speaking role represented a different personality type that corresponds indirectly with the characters of Antigone. Both Harper and Derrick represent Antigone in a sense that they both refused to simply comply with the rules and resorted to rebellion. The fact that Leospheclus abandons both of his children because of their opinions relates to how Creon abandoned his son and niece due to their opposing views.

I did not want to recreate word for word a scene from the book so I decided
to focus on a main theme. At first I wanted to use regular students to act out my script but I could not manipulate their acting the way I wanted. So I decided to have action figures act out my scenes. I believe that this short video effectively conveyed Antigone’s central theme of cruel rule and the consequences of being impassionate.
