Why Abuse the Creatures Who Did Nothing Wrong?!? Pt 2

Posted by Tamatha Lancaster in ENG1-002 on
In my first blog, I mentioned that I was doing a project in English class called "You and the World". I also mentioned that I was looking for information about animal abuse and wanted to let people know what is happening to the animals around them because I love animals. Also in my first blog, I found out some information that was about how some animals around the world are being treated like, the elephants in the circus and the horses in the United States.

This time I found out more information about how animals are being treated in the United States. In New York, an abuser was convicted with two cases. One case was for a cat name Scruffy who was drench with lighter fluid and then set on fire leaving the poor animal severely burned to the muscles in the legs. The other case was involved with a cat name Madea who was so viciously beaten that her lungs was ripped and had to be put down. I also found that in California, a man name Timothy Arie Kooyman was sentence d for seven years and eight months behind bars after he was found guilty of abusing cats in his motel room in Corona, California. It was said that in that motel room he would break the cats legs before cutting it off with an ax. Also where he ran over another with his truck and killing a third cat by continuing slicing her with razor blades. Lastly, a poor dog, who was renamed Angel by rescuers, escaped form his family’s yard and was found the next morning suffering deep cuts on his head, face, back, and feet apparently after being hit with a machete about six times. His tail was nearly detached and had to be amputated.

When I hear about the things that people do to these poor animals, I wonder if those people ever stop and wondered why they were doing this or what would happen if they did abuse these animals. I sometimes wonder if they would feel guilty of what they did and see that they took a poor innocent animals' life. And for what, to get even with somebody or to just take their anger out on them.

In my further research, I will continue to look for reasons why people abuse animals and how people can help things like animals abuse from happening.

Reflexion sobre "Un Arbol Crece en Brooklyn"

Posted by Sofia Frank-Fischer in SP5-001 on
Reciben 16 centavos a cambio.

Washington DC

Posted by Freda Anderson in STORY-001 on
I'm going to Washington DC today! Finally, I'm leaving in like a half an hour to go meet everybody else to go. It's so awesome! I have never been there before in my life, which is so weird because I've been to like a million states but not the capital city... Anyways we're not getting back till like 11 so I figured I'd just post now.

Weird Dream

Posted by Freda Anderson in STORY-001 on
I am someone who has always had strange dreams. I suffer from night terrors quite often and even my normal dreams are pretty intense. I also often times have difficulty falling asleep in the first place. Usually I sit in bed for about an hour thinking about... anything and everything before I can fall asleep. My mind runs circles around everything I learned during the day or different ideas that have come to me or sometimes it makes up strange scenarios with different characters who fight each other and it's almost like there is a movie or a book that's being written somewhere in my head and it doesn't come to me till I'm ready to sleep. Sometimes this is really good because it gives me ideas to write about, I've written my best when I'm really tired but can't fall asleep. Mostly it's just annoying though. This happens almost every night except for when I've been at work all day and my body is so exhausted that I just collapse on contact with the foam core mattress.
Last night though in particular I had a really strange dream. Before I fell asleep I'd been reading One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest in bed. I was reading a long extended description of "the mist" that seeps through the ward in the book and at some point I just fell asleep. My dream started out just like the main character described the mist in the book, everything was floating by, in and out of focus, and I couldn't seem to control which direction I was going. Eventually it stopped and I was in school and I was in Mr. Lehmann's office, only Lehmann wasn't Lehmann he was some other guy who was taller and had a more angular sharp face, but the same voice. He told me he was disappointed in me because I didn't complete some project for English where we had to pretend like we were slaves for a week. I started crying and told him that the project started to get too personal and was taking a lot out of me. But he told me that everyone else did it and had no problem and I was going to college and it was about time I grew up. Then for some reason my seventh grade math teacher burst into the classroom and told Lehmann that it wasn't my fault because she was mean to me in 7th grade. Then I was allowed to go back to class, but I didn't go back to class. Instead I went to talk to Kay who should have been in the drama room only he wasn't in there. So I just curled up on the floor and went to sleep. At some point the fire alarm went off and we all went outside. It was a real fire and someone died. They thought it was me who set the fire, because no one knew where I was, because I never went back to class. I ran away from school before anyone had the chance to yell at me for it. Then I went on the China Town bus to Washington DC because even though I knew everyone thought I set the school on fire, I didn't want to miss the Holocaust trip for the second time and I figured Kay would know I didn't set the building on fire. I got lost in DC though and then I woke up.

How Many Wars Are There?

Posted by Aaron Van-Buren in ENG1-003 on
War On Terror

In the last blog I said I would answer the questions I didn’t get a chance to answer yet.  One question was “Why did it take us so long to find Osama Bin Laden?” Some may say that he was hiding to good for us or when President Bush was asked this question he said “Because he’s hiding” but that means we need to find him right.  Also some may say that the counterterrorism team had change their course of finding him to the American war against Iraq.

Another Question was “How does the families fell about Osama Bin Laden’s death?”  They are happy about the Death of Osama Bin Laden but some around not under standing why President Obama was so low-key about speaking on the death and how he wasn’t answering questions about the whole 9/11.

Let’s get into the U.S. Military!  The United States Military has the Navy, Army, Marines and Air Force.  Imagine How many gangs are in the United States of America?  Now think about the same gangs that kill, sell drugs and go to jail, which are the same soldier that we train and support everyday.  Not all solider are in gangs but when you see pictures of Gang tangs over sea’s where the U.S. is fighting, I believe that is disturbing.

Look forward to a continuation of this topic. The plan for the future is to go farther in research to explain more on this topic to the world. BYE see you next time!

Bonjour, Salam, Hello Mr. Sunshine! It Appears 8 O'Clock is the Envy Hour!

Posted by Christine Walden in STORY-002 on
Oh he is so terribly funny. A clever lad as well. He has done just fine for himself thus far and he is still so young! What a future he has! He simply cannot help from excelling. Day in and day out...
yet I cannot hold it against the boy.
But does he have to excel so close to where I sit?
Does he have to do it so audibly?
Cannot his wonder be hidden?
Of course not. It oozes from his pores. Light shines from him and he mistakenly believes that I contain such greatness as well... it is simply the reflection of your light that you see, silly!
Well, let us not dwell on this fact. Let me simply envy and admire from my corner, warming myself in your glow, and every now and again do a musical number.

Today was National Kiss Day. First of all, who even came up with that? And second of all, did we really need another day to make all of the single people feel like garbage? Absolutely not. I was lonely today. However, my incredibly wonderful guy best friend made sure that I got a kiss today and hoped that I'd feel better... I do.

Posted by Bethany Knibbe in SP4-001 on
