Answers
A) One thing that I did not know before this art clase was that math and art can go hand to hand.
b)It helped because I'm usually very good at math so having a good understanding of how to use a ruer really helped me throughout this art project.
c)I would of started with the the windows and tables then would of worked my way to the floor and ceiling tiles.
d)While drawing make sure ALL of your lines go towards your vanishing point.
e)The resources that helped me the most was the eraser. Through the course of this project I had to eraser dozens of lines to make it perfect.

Final Perspective Drawing

I had no idea how to draw in one point perspective when I came to SLA. This project me taught how to draw things in one point perspective. I also now see things around the city, and think, “I could draw that from one point perspective.” I have have thought this befor, and this project has given me more confidence when it comes to drawing. This made my drawings better, because I never really drew other than scribbles in my notebooks. Now that I have completed a drawing, I want to do more. If I could do this assignment again, I would make sure I had more time to add detail and color. I used my time in class well, but I am not the fastest worker. I take my time to make things as best I can. Next time I would push myself to work faster while still doing the best work I can. My advice to someone who has never drawn a one point perspective work of art is that they make sure to be very precise, because if you only have one measurement, or line that does not look right, then your whole drawing looks off. In all honesty the most helpful resources I used was my ruler. When I first started the drawing, It was hard for me to envision where I would make my lines, or make measurements, because I did not have a very well developed artist's eye. The ruler helped me make my lines straight, and have precise measurements. After a while, My artist’s eye started to develop, and I know that the ruler I used played a part in that.

Final Perspective Drawing Orange Stream 2013 Perspective

Before I started this unit, I didn't know anything about art, except lines and horizons. When my teacher told my 9th grade class that we had to draw her room, we all we over whelmed. Before we got started, we did the basics. I learned what orthogonal lines were and how to draw figures and objects 3D. I also learned how to be patient and that messing up comes with perfection.
Learning this information helped me to draw my room. It helped me because now that I can draw things like helper lines, it can help guide me in the direction in which I am supposed to be.
If I were to do this assignment again, I would choose a different wall to draw. I would because I would like to know the process of each wall and how my classmates handled their art work.
The advice I would give someone who is about to draw a one point perspective drawing...? I would tell them to take their time, expect mistakes to happen, and be patient. All these things would help them to have a great drawing.
I would say my classmates and Ms.Hull helped me the most. I say that because without the help of others and the guidance of my teacher, I would most likely have a worst drawing.

Final Perspective Drawing - Blue Stream

A. During this project I learned so much! One of the most interesting things that I learned was then when drawing in one point perspective, I would only be using 3 types of lines: horizontal, vertical, and lines to my vanishing point.

B. Learning about the three types of lines improved my drawing immediately. When I used a line that was not vertical, horizontal, or to my vanishing point, it wouldn't look realistic. I remember this because I had a random diagonal line while drawing my door. After changing that one line and drawing it to the vanishing point, my door looked so much better.

C. If I did this assignment again I would definitely start earlier. Ten weeks is a long time to do a project so naturally in the beginning I did not use my time wisely. Then when it got down to one week left I started getting stressed out. So, if I had to do it again I would make better use of the time we were given.

D. My advice to a person who has never drawn a one point perspective would be to take your time and don't be afraid of your eraser! It can be really overwhelming to be told to draw a whole room in one point perspective. Especially to a person like me who has never felt particularly good at art. However, if you take it one step at a time it becomes much easier. You absolutely cannot be afraid of your eraser because during this project it will be your best friend. Making mistakes is apart of the process and things will get erased over and over again.

E. The resource that most helped me was the step by step presentation that was on Moodle. I would have been lost without it. The hardest part was starting, so having a guide was really helpful. By the end I got comfortable enough to figure it out on my own, but in the beginning it was a huge help!

Final Perspective Drawing

One thing that I learned is what/how to use the vanishing point. This helped me keep my in the one point perspective that was required. I think if I was to do this assignment again I would try and not be so "nit picky". I think this used up the majority of the my time. If I had just trust myself and kept what I drew the first time.
The advice I would give to someone else doing this project would to always use your ruler and make sure that it always stayed straight. If it is not the entire room will look off center. The three resources that helped me the most were Ms.Hull, the ruler and an eraser. Ms.Hull helped me figure out where everything went and how to put them there. The ruler then helped me get them there with beautiful straight lines. Then there was the eraser, I think I went through three whole erasers throughout this project. It was definitely my best friend. Overall this project taught me a lot about how to draw in one point perspective that I never knew before.

Final Perspective Drawing

a) One thing I learned from this project that I did not know before was how to draw a ceiling line. Also, I learned how to draw all different kinds of objects in one point perspective, not just tables.

b) These things helped make my drawing better because I could make the room itself look more realistic. In addition, I could include other details of the room in one point perspective.

c) If I did this project, I would spend more time on the details. I feel like I spent a lot of time on the “big picture” of the drawing. If I spent more time on details, I think I could have made the picture look fuller.

d) If someone was trying to draw a one point perspective drawing, I would say to them that they should always pay extra careful attention to which sides should be exposed in the drawing and which should not.

e) The resource that helped me the most was the slideshow on moodle. It really helped me figuring out where to start.

Final Perspective Drawing

1. What is one thing that your learned specifically that you did not know before.

One thing I learned to do was how to draw from different perspectives. I initially had no idea on how to and have always wanted to, but didn't know where to start. I'm actually pretty happy that Ms. Hull decided to give this unit as our first art assignment because it will truly benefit me in the long run. I feel as though I can add life and substance to the things I draw now, not only drawing people, but backgrounds and scenery as well.

2. How did learning this thing make your drawings better.

Now I actually have an idea of what I'm doing when I am drawing a landscape or room. At first when looking at many of the rooms that other professional artists have drawn, I thought that they had naturally knew how to make furniture and rooms from all perspectives. But after Ms. Hull teaching my classmates and I know how to do so. I am pretty confident and creating all sorts of rooms and knowing what I am doing now.

3. If you did this assignment again, what would you do differently?

I would draw a different, more complex room. Considering I have a confident perspective on how to do so. I think drawing a different environment with more details and curved objects would be a challenge, which is necessary to know when pursuing a career in the art industry.

4. What is your advice to someone who has never drawn a one point perspective drawing before?

Depending on what perspective they are going for, I would tell them to simply place a dot in the middle of the page. Use a ruler to create an outline of the object they are making. And then draw orthogonal lines to create dimension that would apply or look similar to the real world.

5. What resource helped you the most and why?

The drawings that Ms. Hull placed around the class really helped. And the online tutorials on moodle catered as well. In my spare time, I would look in comic books and pay attention to the way the illustrators drew their rooms. I would point on the things they did wrong, and pay attention to they things they did right. I then tried to incorporate that into my own drawing.

Art room Assignment

a. What is one thing that your learned specifically that you did not know before.
One thing that I learned was making the drawing look 3D.
  b. How did leaning this thing make your drawings better.
It makes the drawing better because it makes it stand out and it's not flat.

  c. If you did this assignment again, what would you do differently?
If would draw another perspective of the room.
  d. What is your advice to someone who has never drawn a one point perspective drawing before?
To try to make it 3D and just do it as how the real view of the room looks like.
  e. What resource helped you the most and why?
the resources that helped me the most was the presentation tat showed me how to do it.

Q3 Art Portfolio CPagan

Link to Art portfolio Keynote

This quarter we were given the assignment to learn and draw from an online art course. In the beginning I wasn't too excited to do this because I felt like I wouldn't learn anything from the lessons, however, I learned small tips and techniques from doing each drawing. I definitely pushed my abilities by doing the pictures that were done in colored pencil. I'm the type of person that enjoys expanding my abilities across a multitude of different mediums, this assignment allowed me to do that. I have a hard time shading a picture without precise detail and I feel like the cross shading and the scribble technique that was used in a few of the lessons helped me loosen up with my attention to detail. Admittedly, the objects weren't exactly things that I would've personally chosen to draw and add to my portfolio but looking over all of the ones that I have done I find myself admiring the technique that I used more than the actual picture. If I was to do something like this over again I would probably force myself to step out of my comfort zone even more and do more pictures in color.

Boys Ultimate Beats Masterman

On Thursday, the Boys Ultimate team beat Masterman HS 15-9, marking the first time SLA Ultimate has beaten Masterman. SLA was led by the defensive heroics of junior Roberto Abazoski and sophmore Pierce Luck. Junior captain Rob Jenkins threw four of SLA's 15 goals, and sophomore True Black scored the game winner. The team put together its most complete game of the year, playing precision Ultimate on both offense and defense.

SLA continues its season on Saturday morning at Edgely Fields for a tournament that will see them face off against Lower Merion, Methacton and Archbishop Carroll. Go Rockets!

Final Perspective Drawing

a. What is one thing that your learned specifically that you did not know before.
- I didn't know how to draw in one point perspective at all and orthogonals.

b. How did leaning this thing make your drawings better.

- I know how to make orhtogonal lines now, and it looks better and helped make things 3D.

c. If you did this assignment again, what would you do differently?

- I'd probably spend more time in detail and I would have took my time instead of trying to rush everything.

d. What is your advice to someone who has never drawn a one point perspective drawing before?

- My advice to anyone who has never drawn in one point perspective is that you need to be very patient with yourself. There are going to be times when you don't know what you're going to next but you have to think for a second, take a deep breath, and keep drawing.

e. What resource helped you the most and why?

- The resource that helped me the most in the process was my friends and Ms. Hull's instruction on the toturial, it made it easy to understand.

Third Quarter Artwork - Max Amar-Olkus

This quarter I focused on photography as a form of expression. I got started by being involved with the "My Hometown" project though the New York Times photography blog, Lens. They wanted a meaningful representation of 21st century America through the eyes of high schoolers. The images will be archived in the Library of Congress. To put my photographic style into a genre, it would probably be considered 'urban'. I had a strong focus on the use of color and geometric shapes in the pictures I captured. For my outside project I designed and built my own bicycle.

This is the link to my photography portfolio.

Below are some pictures of my bicycle for my outside project.

Thank You.

Final Perspective Drawing Green

a. What is one thing that your learned specifically that you did not know before.

I learned about the use of lines and vanishing points to help draw in perspective.

b. How did learning this thing make your drawings better.

It helped make my drawing better because I was able to accurately draw the different pieces of furniture in the room.

c. If you did this assignment again, what would you do differently?

If I did this assignment again, I would make sure to as for more help instead of doing things on my own.

d. What is your advice to someone who has never drawn a one point perspective drawing before?

My advice is to take your time, and make sure not to get frustrated. Once you get frustrated, your drawing begins to look worse.

e. What resource helped you the most and why?

My most helpful resource was Ms. Hull because she gave subtle hints that helped perfect my drawing.

b. How did leaning this thing make your drawings better.
Showed me that I needed to concentrate way better on my drawings than I already did.
c. If you did this assignment again, what would you do differently?
I would probably try to work a little more on the drawings of the furniture around the room.

d. What is your advice to someone who has never drawn a one point perspective drawing before?

Try your hardest to try and observe what your surrounding objects look like before you start drawing.
e. What resource helped you the most and why?
The powerpoint presentation that we were presented access to in the beginning of the project. I found that it was a great resource for help when I found that I could not do certain parts of it.

Final Perspective Drawing - Green, 2013, perspective.

1.) Something that I learned is how to outline a one point perspective drawing, before drawing the vanishing point. More specifically, I learned what a vanishing point is.

2.) Learning this made my drawings better, because without knowing about the vanishing point, my lines would look disproportionate.

3.) If I did this assignment again, I would add more details to the room. I would also make sure everything was drawn the correct size.

4.) My advice to someone who has never drawn a one point perspective drawing before would be never draw a line without a ruler, because they will look very wrong. Also, never guess where a line goes, because again, it won't look right.

5.) The resource that helped me the most was a ruler, because my lines are straight, and I can make sure they are drawn in the right spot by using either inches or centimeters and making marks along the paper.

Final Perspective Drawing Green Stream 2013

a. What is one thing that your learned specifically that you did not know before.
I didn't know that you could make a whole art room using lines and vanishing points.

b. How did leaning this thing make your drawings better.

It allowed me to make any room of my choice better because I now know all of the tricks to actually making it look good. Like using my artist eye
c. If you did this assignment again, what would you do differently?
I think I would do my window on the left side over again, it doesn't really look good and it has a little bit a flaws.
d. What is your advice to someone who has never drawn a one point perspective drawing before?
Try to get the easy things out the way first so that when you get to the harder stuff, you have all the time to get help and to redo things.

e. What resource helped you the most and why?

Classmates because they know things that I might not know, so they could give me constructive criticism on how I could make my drawing better. And also the step- by step thing because I could change things around and then I could look at certain things to make sure that I was doing it right. And it also was easier to understand.

Comic Book Project

Artist's Goals:
The goal was to create a comic book, in reply of "How does someone go from being a together person to someone where everything falls apart?". During the process of making the comic book was there many ways to explain and to tell the story. There were many ideas to put the story together. The pictures fit well with the emotions that goes on with the characters. Which was something that I felt good with my comic book. Theres lots of
creativity that was put into and hard work. Enjoy.

Final Perspective Drawing

I learned about the way the vanishing point influences a lot of the lines of the furniture. It is interesting to think that one little point influences the drawing so much. I didn't really have that good of a grasp on the whole concept and I still have a ton to learn about it, but this project helped me understand the idea of perspective a significant amount more than when I started out.

This learning helped my drawing look like a real room. It popped out more than it would have otherwise. It would have looked unintentionally wonky, like some substandard, weird, second-rate Picasso imitation. As I looked at my lines according to the vanishing point, the whole idea of perspective was able to click a bit better. My room, although still at this point a bit bare-bones, looks like an outline of a room.

I would pay more attention while making my back wall. At the very beginning, and for the rest of the project as well, I felt a tad intimidated. I sort of hurried through making my back wall and it ended up costing me later. The wall was the wrong shape and I had to fix that. Restarting ended up costing me quite a lot of time. Next time I would also see Ms. Hull more for help as she was very helpful when went to her.

My advice to someone who has never drawn in one point perspective is to take your time, especially when making the foundations of the drawing. The details are much more easy to fix. However, if you mess up something in the foundations, this can take a large toll on the rest of your drawing.

The resource that helped me the most was Ms. Hull. When I went to her we talked about the different types of line relationships, if that makes any sense. We looked at the lines that are parallel to each other and the lines that go to the vanishing point. She also did some sketches demonstrating these concepts that I was able to look at later to be reminded of what I needed to do.

I would like to think that given another opportunity to do this, I could do better. I know that my current drawing is somewhat lacking but I am still proud of what I accomplished despite what I did being nothing to someone of a higher caliber than myself.

Final Perspective Drawing

I learned that even when I'm struggling with an assignment and don't understand it, I shouldn't give up. I was having trouble figuring out the perspective and got to the point where I considered giving up. Then, Ms. Hull announced that if we didn't finish we would get a C in the class. I then asked her for help, and she helped me understand the perspective somewhat. My drawing ended up not completely done, but better than it would have been. Ms. Hull said that it's not important to be good at everything, but you shouldn't give up on the things that you aren't good at.

Final Perspective Drawing

What is one thing that your learned specifically that you did not know before.
One thing I learned throughout this project was simply that I can learn new and challenging skills that I didn't have before. I haven't often been faced with a challenge that I thought I couldn't complete, except for this project. I struggled with it a lot and I learned that with confidence and patience, I can learn.
Learning this helped my drawing because I became calmer and therefore my drawing because neater and after some time, it made more sense.
If I  had the chance to do this assignment again, I would probably just draw a different side of the room. This side really confused me and I struggled more than I would have liked.
My advice to someone who has never drawn a one-point perspective drawing is to take their time and follow all of the instructions and guidance provided to him/her by their teacher.

I think my most useful resource was Jasim Gilliam. She was drawing the same side of the room as I was, and she helped me a lot with everything. Without her my drawing would stink.
